For a low budget movie Liquid Lunch did an excellent job of piecing it all together.

The artwork for the comic's strips was incredible. They did an exemplary job of morphing from cartoon scene into reality and vice-versa.

Rob Savage's portrayal of both characters was excellent. He will surely be making a name for himself in the Boston Film Arena The soundtrack was laid down very nicely, and comic relief was provided by Massachusetts most up and comic TV commercial pimp in Pete Darrigo.

The ending to the film was a nice little twist. Very much in keeping with a Twilight Zone Theme.

#2 is Second to None

Warning: Spoilers
I thoroughly enjoyed #2 Pencil with it's compelling plot and mix of satirical humor. In today's wave of "scary movies", #2 is a small (we're talking tiny) budget film rivaling the mega-flicks with budgets that emulate the Yankees payroll. There are several attributes that contribute to this film. The transformation of "Marty" from 'geek to sheik, both personalities played to a tee by Rob Savage, and Marty's subsequent betrayal to his long time friend "Philip", who bodes well as a partner in geek-dom. I also thought it was creative to showcase the turning point of Marty's life change through the viscous glam-reporting of Knock-Out News' "Peter Darvigo" -- nailed by Peter Darrigo of "Overserved" fame. The slapstick comedy of Knock-Out News provides a quick break from the tensity, at the same time bringing the viewer up to speed on the residuals of Marty's makeover.

The story of Marty's life and transformation are also brilliantly communicated not only through script, but with creepy, wicked animation, imaginative cinematography, and the chilling and abrasive soundtrack of up and coming rockers Cherry S/T.

If the inventive concept of the film isn't enough to encourage you to watch it, I believe this is only Joe Gatto's 2nd premiere. Let that accomplishment earn 34 minutes of your life.
