Last night’s TLC pay-per-view delivered on many levels. It proved to be the type of performance to put the waning WWE product into full gear for WrestleMania.
The Northeast fans know how to bring it. Afterall, Boston is known to be the city of champions, but according to Kevin Owens last night, I guess the fans have nothing to do with any of it.
Unlike the crowd in Atlanta last month at Survivor Series, the Boston crowd was electric, giving talent in the ring the opportunity to feed into adrenaline and turning up their matches by a notch or two.
Here are some quick live observations from attending last night’s pay-per-view at the Td Garden in Boston.

The devastating injury to Seth Rollins has set WWE on an entirely new direction for WrestleMania 32, with Roman Reigns versus Triple H looking likely for the April 3rd Dallas show.
Reigns has inherited the spot that first The Rock and then Rollins were meant to occupy. Rock and Hunter had been the long-term plan going all the way back to October 2014, when they shot an angle together on the 15th Anniversary SmackDown, then furthered the angle with a memorable segment, also involving Ronda Rousey and Stephanie McMahon, at WrestleMania 31.
There was even talk of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon versus The Rock and Ronda Rousey, in what could have been the Mania show closer (had Ufc President Dana White given the green light). However, Rocky ended up having issues getting insurance, while Rousey was booked on a film shoot next April. Triple H still needed something big, so...

WWE has announced the addition of two new matches to this Sunday’s Survivor Series pay-per-view event.
Dolph Ziggler will be taking on new Nxt call-up Tyler Breeze in a match that was made official at Tuesday night’s SmackDown! taping. The two have been engaged in a feud since Breeze made his main roster debut but this will be their first time meeting in the ring.
WWE.com also made the announcement that there would be a traditional 5-on-5 elimination match taking place at the event. Since the show’s inception in 1987, elimination matches have been a fan-favorite feature and this year will be no different. As of yet, no participants have been named for the bout, but with so many members of the roster already involved elsewhere the pickings are slim.
This is good news for a card that has was thrown in disarray after the injury to Seth Rollins.

Last week, I wrote an article detailing why John Cena must be turned heel immediately. Long story short, I felt – and still feel – that a Cena heel turn would bring lapsed fans back to WWE and bring ratings up to a level that the company hasn’t seen in years.
At the same time, though, I realize that calling for a Cena heel turn is nothing but a pipe dream – Cena moves merchandise and WWE typically doesn’t take such huge risks with their top stars.
This time, I’d like to call for a more realistic turn – one which would make television equally exciting, if not draw in old fans who have been turned off by a stagnant product. As a result of two big wins on last week’s Raw, Roman Reigns earned a WWE Championship match with Seth Rollins at the Survivor Series.

Two title matches are now official for the WWE Survivor Series card. Seth Rollins will be defending his WWE Championship against Roman Reigns, while Charlotte will be defending her Divas title against Paige.
Stephanie McMahon announced on Raw that the WWE Title match will be on the November 22 special. As for Paige’s title shot, she earned it after pinning Becky Lynch in a match that also involved Brie Bella and Sasha Banks. It was the obvious choice to make Paige number one contender, after her heel antics against Charlotte made their feud deeply personal. It is personal narratives that always sell best in WWE.
The two title offerings are good, they’ll add value to the Survivor Series card. Especially the Roman Reigns title shot, fans are going to be intrigued to see if this is going to be the end of Rollins’ lengthy run. Rumour has...

After pulling out nearly all the stops in terms of wrestling star power last week, WWE reloaded the night after Hell in a Cell and delivered one of the better episodes of Raw in recent memory. How did the beleaguered company manage this? Bring the Rock back to verbally joust with John Cena? Have Santino return to hold a dance-off? Focus on multiple campy backstage segments?
Nope, WWE went the route of putting on a wrestling program, announcing a mini-tournament to name a new number one contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, consisting of five match matches. Automatically, three-quarters of the in-ring action had serious stakes associated with it. Throw in a Diva heel turn and a second abduction from the Wyatt Family and you have an eventful episode of Raw that was focused on what happened inside the ring as opposed to backstage vignettes.

Monday Night Raw ratings are at record lows, stars built up on Nxt are turned into main roster cannon-fodder overnight, and God knows what the next WWE Network subscription numbers will be when they come out. Everything is just peachy.
In all seriousness, the apologists for the current WWE product must not have been fans 20 years ago when things previously cratered. To be fair, the components for a successful product are all there, which is why many of us still follow it intently. The wrestlers are talented and have the capability to captivate the crowd, both in the ring and outside. Every once in a while, a storyline comes along that manages to garner some serious interest and remind us of what can be.
But right now, WWE’s autopilot mentality has left us with a Hell in a Cell PPV that features seven matches, six of which...

For well over a decade, wrestling fans fantasized about the possibility of Sting joining WWE. It seemed implausible the longer he remained with Tna, but when he finally left the Nashville-based organization in early 2014, the chances of him signing with WWE grew to be much more likely.
After many months of false starts and rumors of his stalemate status with the company, he made his long awaited WWE debut at the 2014 Survivor Series pay-perv-view, helping Dolph Ziggler (temporarily) put The Authority out of power. When he came face-to-face with Triple H for the first time ever, it was as if time stood still; it was a sight die-hard wrestling enthusiasts never thought they would see.
The last year for The Icon in WWE, however, has been anything but smooth.

John Cena leaving WWE is on the face of it a very bad thing. He’s scheduled to take off after Hell In A Cell, and won’t be back until after Christmas.
Already stagnant Raw ratings are going to be hurt, plus there’s two Network specials that he will be missing. Both Survivor Series and TLC would have been stronger with WWE’s franchise star.
However, there are some unforeseen benefits in John Cena leaving WWE. A range of opportunities are about to open up, there’s a vacuum that needs to be filled. In his absence, there could be some real progressive action in WWE.

Cena’s exit should mean a new Us Champion. Surely there is no way he’ll be holding on to the belt for two whole months, without ever appearing once.

The Rock and WWE are having serious discussions about doing something before the end of the year, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting. The promotions department of WWE have been informed, and that’s why The Rock has been moved from alumni to current on WWE’s shop website.
This is exciting news, and perhaps a reaction from WWE to John Cena’s November time off. Replacing Cena is difficult, but plugging the gap with The Rock is more than going to fit the bill.
Presumably his involvement could be at Survivor Series, which is traditionally the biggest WWE show in this fall period. Either that or they use Rock on Raw, as a way to get the worrying levels of low viewership up.
What would be likely, is he shoots an angle with Triple H to establish his match at WrestleMania 32. It makes sense that the main...

John Cena is taking time off from WWE immediately after Hell In A Cell, and the latest indication is that he won’t be returning until late December. It will be almost two months of WWE without its franchise star.
Madison Square Garden confirmed Cena will be on their December 26th live event. The annual post-Christmas tour is WWE’s next booking of Cena, meaning he’ll be missing all of November and most of December. That will mean not only is he missing Survivor Series, but he’ll be missing TLC as well.
It is a terrible time for WWE to be losing Cena, as he’s their biggest mass market attraction. Raw viwership is already at record lows, and WWE Network subscriptions are volatile. Cena will also be missing the November European tour, where he had been marketed as the main selling point. No doubt about it,...

Seth Rollins versus Triple H looks to be a co-main event direction for WrestleMania 32.
Tension between Rollins and Hunter is a key theme leading into September’s Night Of Champions, with Rollins repeatedly stating he is better than Triple H. The scripting has deliberately placed repeated themes of master and apprentice dissension, with Stephanie McMahon last week admonishing Rollins for suggesting he is a better wrestler than her husband.
Central to these developments has been Sting. Rollins will defend the WWE Title against the WCW Icon at Night Of Champions, and Sting has played mind games by suggesting the student isn’t as good as his teacher. Triple H did of course defeat Sting at WrestleMania 31, seemingly earning the icon’s respect.
The story has now developed to the point that the Rollins / Triple H tension is as big of a story as the Rollins / Sting narrative. The...

Another summer has come and gone in the WWE. Seth Rollins continued to steal the show as WWE Champion, the Divas Revolution started with a whimper and then continued to suffer from a lack of any real storyline and actor Stephen Amell become more popular than half the superstars on the roster despite wrestling just one match.
However, with SummerSlam already starting to seem like a distant memory we now enter into what has typically in the past been a slow couple of months for the WWE, with the next pay-per-view of any huge significance not coming until next January’s Royal Rumble (unless you count Survivor Series, but really who still cares about that these days?).
Already a number of bookmakers have started to give odds on who will win next year’s edition of the annual 30-man Royal Rumble match, with odds available for almost every...

Sting made his shock return to WWE this past Monday on Raw, as Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were unveiling Seth Rollins’ victory statue. ‘The Vigilante’ proceeded to attack the reigning WWE and United States Champion, which brings us the match booked in the graphic above. Seth Rollins vs. Sting, at Night of Champions, for all the marbles (except for just the WWE World Title marbles).
Sting’s legacy in the sport of professional wrestling is not up for debate, the man is a Hall of Fame shoo-in. Whether it was California beach boy Sting or the modern Crow/Vigilante equivalent, Sting is one of the most recognisable names in modern wrestling history. He was also the last WCW loyalist, not gracing a WWE ring until Survivor Series last year. To this day, the man has only had a single WWE match.

With SummerSlam concluded, WWE are now embarking on their fall season towards Survivor Series. It is traditionally a minefield of critical and commercial disappointment, with past years being a snooze-fest before creative start to think towards WrestleMania.
Worryingly, it is also a period in which television ratings fall. When you consider that viewership is already in the gutter, things could get really ugly in the coming months. Pay per view performance has also been bad in this season, so Network subscriptions are also likely to fall.
Aware of all of that, WWE are surely preparing a strong line up of directions for the SummerSlam to Survivor Series period. This feature will take a look at some of the directions, and what could be main eventing the forthcoming major shows.

Monday night Raw ended with Bray Wyatt posing over a fallen Roman Reigns. Prior to that, The Authority worked together to destroy Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns.
After Raw ended, there was no post-show match like there usually is. Instead, babyface wrestlers Dolph Ziggler, R-Truth and Ryback ran out to save the good guys. They cleared the ring of the evil Authority group by hitting their finishing move on them.
It was noted by some fans that Ryback took the time to greet the fans at ringside by high-fiving a lot of the kids. That’s a moment those kids in Washington, DC will never forget.
Normally there is a post show dark match, but they likely didn’t do it because several wrestlers had an early flight to Singapore for WWE’s three day tour that includes the Singapore show as well as a Japan live event...

Last week we found out that Dolph Ziggler’s WWE contract is set to expire soon. Ziggler, who has not been utilized as a main event star in a while, is reportedly mulling over leaving the biggest company in wrestling for pastures new.
Dolph obviously has the talent. He can put on great matches with almost anyone. The 2014 Survivor Series was one of the last real chances that he was given to steal a major show and the reaction he received was phenomenal. Down 3 on 1 against Team Authority he mounted a memorable comeback (with slight help from Sting) that could have vaulted him back into a major program. It didn’t.
Dolph should be frustrated with his spot in the company right now and like his friend John Morrison before him, the grass could look greener on the other side. Outside of WWE, Ziggler would create himself a ton...

The Rock and Triple H are probably going to have a match at WrestleMania 32 next year. We have a year to speculate about it, but based on what happened at WrestleMania 31 it’s considered very likely. Perhaps it will be a tag match with Ronda Rousey joining The Rock while Triple H is joined by Stephanie McMahon. It’s more likely that they do a singles match with the ladies at ringside.
If you watched WWE in the late 1990s through the early 2000s then you know that they were two of the most important performers during the Attitude Era. They rose to the top at the same time, feuded for the Ic Title (Rock beat Hunter for it in 1997, then Hunter beat Rock for it in 1998), then the World Title meant several title changes and they headlined many shows together along the way.

Sting’s WWE in-ring wrestling debut at Wrestlemania has been anticipated for at least 15 years by many WWE fans, and has officially been built up since November’s Survivor Series PPV. When the “rogue vigilante” appeared and allowed Dolph Ziggler the opportunity to win the traditional Survivor Series match for Team Cena, it immediately set wrestling fans’ minds on fire.
Well, here’s to extinguishing those fires in just over 1000 words.
Sting’s undoubtedly a pro wrestling legend. He’s had spellbinding matches on multiple continents, and wrestled nearly all of the great names in both WWE and WCW history. However, he’s also 55 years old and winding down his career. Thus, expecting career-redefining performances against the names he has left to wrestle in WWE is impossible to expect.
As well, also don’t expect WWE to exactly be kind to his legacy or to see him on...

It was announced via Twitter during Monday’s Raw broadcast that WWE’s on screen COO Triple H has challenged Sting for a face to face encounter at the WWE Fast Lane PPV in Memphis on February 22.
Here’s what was in the tweet: “Per The Authority: @WWE COO @TripleH has challenged @Sting to meet face to face at #WWEFastLane Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015 on the @WWENetwork”
The key point in that is that they are advertising it as a “face to face” confrontation. It’s not a match. When the babyface is challenged they usually accept. That’s why they are the good guy. They’re going to use this segment to build to the rumored WrestleMania 31 match. Don’t forget that WWE usually refers to him as “The Vigilante” Sting although it looks like they had no room in that tweet.

The rumoured Sting versus Triple H match should be happening sometime soon. The man who made his debut at the Survivor Series by foiling Triple H and The Authority will have his first WWE match in his near-thirty year career.
It’s one of those things that has been talked about for years but that nobody was sure would ever happen. Now it’s a reality, people are starting to fantasy book the match.
Odds are that the match will take place at either the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania pay-per-views. Sting’s first WWE match is one of the biggest matches WWE has right now, after the departures of big stars like Cm Punk and the possibility that movie stars The Rock and Batista won’t be coming back for the road to WrestleMania, and they’re not about to squander it on some B-level PPV or to pop a rating on Raw.

For years, British and Irish fans have wanted a UK / Irish stable of wrestlers to take on the might of the WWE and its patriotic ‘USA’ chants. There hasn’t even been a top tier UK Champion (Sheamus is Irish). The sight of a British/Irish stable stepping out each week and laying out the roster would certainly give the UK / Irish fans something to cheer.
How could WWE go about this though in an age where most stables begin and end with Triple H? Although The Authority had a good run, the days when rival stables like Evolution and The Cabinet would run their respective red and blue brands seem long gone. Even this week we saw the Raw debut of The New Day only for them to come up very short in the tag-team turmoil match. Basically, stables aren’t what they used to be.

Have you ever wondered who would win if a Superstar from this generation squared off with Superstar from a previous era? How about what would go down if this wrestler from WWE battled that wrestler from WCW?
Of course you have! Dream match discussions make for some truly outstanding conversation starters and ignite debate among fans of different ages and products. But what would happen if the opportunity presented itself to see factions such as Dx and the New World Order battle it out for sports-entertainment supremacy?
Who would win a high-profile bout between Evolution and the Four Horsemen?
What if we turned the clock back to 1996 and WWE battled WCW in a take-no-prisoners elimination tag match?
These are questions no fan will ever have the answer to but that does not mean that those matches, those epic clashes between the greatest that the industry has ever seen, cannot live...

WWE and Tna both just had an incredibly important week. WWE is hoping that enough new fans signed up to watch Survivor Series for free, and eventually make their network profitable. Meanwhile, Tna aired their last original programming on Spike TV. After nine years on the network, they’re off to a new home and a fresh start. Which will then quickly turn back into the train wreck we’ve all grown to love.
In minor news in the wrestling world, Aj Lee attacked Brie Bella with some silicone, Hhh threatened to fire four WWE wrestlers (will they show up in Tna as The New Radicalz?) and Sheamus was replaced on Team Cena because nobody likes him. Or maybe it’s because he’s hurt. I don’t remember the reason.

Survivor Series is headlined by a five on five elimination tag match where Team Cena will battle with Team Authority. If Cena’s team loses then his team members will be fired and if Team Authority loses then they will lose power.
Looking back at this Cena/Authority issue, what’s been obvious for the past year is that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon really haven’t been that mean to Cena. In fact, they’ve actually been very forgiving and lenient towards a guy they supposedly don’t like. Compare it to Daniel Bryan, who had to fight for months just to get a fair title shot at WrestleMania 30 and it’s a completely different story.
Does this mean that Cena is going to turn heel by joining The Authority? Absolutely not. This is merely an example of how inconsistent WWE booking is and has been during this entire storyline.

It was revealed on the November 19th/22nd edition of SmackDown that (Spoilers!) if John Cena’s 5-man Survivor Series team loses, they will all be fired (insert dramatic music here).
However, given the past history of ‘firing’ storylines, the match is no longer believable in that either team could win. Basically two possible scenarios could unfold: Team Cena wins, signaling the end of the Authority; or Team Authority wins, and team Cena is fired, only to be re-hired shortly afterwards, with no mention of this stipulation ever existing in the first place.
It is, without doubt, one of the stupidest and least believable stipulations possible. Even the youngest fans are smart enough to realize that a WWE without Cena is like a car without its front wheels.
Therefore, instead of using the ‘firing’ stipulation, here are 9 alternative stipulations that the WWE could’ve used instead. These could...

This week’s edition of Smackdown took place in Knoxville, Tennessee on Tuesday night. It was the last WWE show that took place before Survivor Series. There was a major stipulation announced on the show, which we’ll get to in this look at the spoilers of the show.
Give WWE credit for not Smackdown a throwaway show this week because they have done that in the recent past. Some weeks if you watch Smackdown they barely do anything to make you feel like it is a “must see” show, but this week it has definitely got people talking. When the spoilers came out last night, there was a lot of buzz on social media about it.
Prior to Smackdown, WWE taped and aired Main Event on WWE Network. Tyson Kidd and his wife Natalya beat Rose and The Bunny in an “Inter-species Match” to further the angle with Rose and the Bunny.

This weekend is the 2014 Survivor Series, and as it’s been driven into our head time and again, the stakes couldn’t be higher for Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, aka The Authority. If their team loses at the pay per view event, then they’re supposedly out of power (one would assume they’d still hold high-ranking positions in WWE, just not ones that involve sticking their nose into the business of everyone on the roster several times a week).
While nothing is certain, it seems that the odds of The Authority getting the boot are fairly decent. There have been rumors that Stephanie McMahon herself is pregnant, or at the very least wants to spend more time with her family and attend to other parts of the company’s business, making the end of The Authority a good cover story for why she would no longer be around.

Never before in the history of the WWE has a free pay-per-view been sold so hard. Survivor Series, in case you hadn’t heard, is free this year on the WWE Network, and WWE is pushing it as a big deal in an effort to drive more fans to test drive the Network – and hopefully become paying customers in December.
Is it a smart strategy? We don’t know because we’re really in uncharted waters. But WWE is trying something, and it gave us a Monday Night Raw that certainly had some really strong moments. Of course, Raw also served up some questionable moments that leave some fans pausing the DVR until friends and significant others leave the room. Because let’s face it: Do you want to admit you watch a show featuring people talking to a cat and feuding with a guy in a bunny costume?...

Since then, Cena has played the role of the never-say-die superhero, always overcoming all obstacles and defending the virtues of ‘Hustle, Loyalty, Respect’.
However, many fans think that he has become stale, with a growing number of them firmly believing that he should turn heel. They think that John Cena the good guy has long overstayed his welcome, and that a new character should take his place.

The Undertaker is one of the biggest legends in the history of professional wrestling. His WWE career started at Survivor Series 1990 and even though he’s not a regular performer in WWE today, the mystique that surrounds him is still there.
When WWE created The Undertaker’s gimmick they had no idea that the man portraying the character (Mark Calaway) would still be wrestling 24 years later. It just sort of happened that the 6’10″ 300 pounder was the right choice. He’s built up the reputation as the conscience of WWE and the locker room leader that is arguably the most respected performer in the history of the company.

For months, every vaguely smart WWE fan has been predicting the demise of the company’s most dominant and consistently-pushed stable, The Shield. After all, it’s been telegraphed for a long time now.
Roman Reigns is huge, is booked as a powerhouse, and is from a giant wrestling family that happens to include The Rock. The trio known as The Shield have been rumored to break up since Survivor Series when they celebrated their one year anniversary by having Roman Reigns last as the sole survivor in an elimination match. Most of us figured at that point that Reigns was the next “chosen one” by management and it was only a matter of time until he became a babyface star.

The Undertaker is a WWE legend that is almost like a mythical creature because of everything he has done in his career. His WWE career began at Survivor Series in 1990 and over the past 23 years his character has given us so many memorable moments and matches that he has earned the reputation as arguably the greatest legend in the history of WWE.
With greatness comes some misery too. For all of the good that Undertaker has done in his career, there have also been some questionable things. Part of the reality of having an over the top character like him is that storylines will be pushed to the point of ridiculousness and there will be some silly things that happen along the way.
Is WWE proud of everything they have done with Undertaker? They’re likely proud of most things because he’s a great performer that has so many memorable moments,...

The traditional build towards Wrestlemania is now underway within the WWE. The McMahon’s and various members of creative will have the loose outline of what matches will be tentatively taking place on the show. The key characters that have been decided upon will now be the focus of WWE television, as the creative team starts weaving the stories that will carry the talent to Wrestlemania.
The journey begins now at the conclusion of Survivor Series. The booking of a champion vs champion match at TLC is the next step in a bigger story leading towards Wrestlemania. The key characters currently being focused upon have given us a much better idea of who exactly will be getting featured at Wrestlemania 30. The talent being focused upon now, are being spotlighted with Wrestlemania in mind.

Deadman walking. It’s usually this time of year in the WWE calendar when whispers of The Undertaker’s return start to circulate. With Survivor Series 2013 taking place this weekend, there are various reasons that WWE may choose to reintroduce their resident Phenom. An argument can be made that Taker should and very well could be back in his ‘yard’ this weekend.
There are some pointers that this may be the case, and there are also logical reasons that his story should start again at this point in time. Also, there is of course a more probable chance that Undertaker will not return until 2014, but that just plays into why it would be so great for WWE to bring back the legend this weekend — as a huge element of surprise and buzz would be generated. There has been some speculation from insiders that Taker would be back at Survivor Series,...

"WWE Raw" is going country for a special episode Monday (November 18), live from Nashville, Tenn. To celebrate, country music duo Florida Georgia Line will be appearing, though it's unclear exactly what they'll be doing.
It could be a performance, but knowing WWE they'll probably star in a series of silly sketches throughout the show. It's the last episode of "WWE Raw" before the annual "Survivor Series" pay per view and things are heating up for the show.
The only other piece of the show that's been announced is the return of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon after they were "on vacation" last week. Really, they just didn't go with WWE on their tour of Europe.
"WWE Raw" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. Et on USA.

So on Monday we finally got our wish, and Brian Danielson, Aka Daniel Bryan in WWE Speak, is getting his shot at John Cena and the WWE Title in a few weeks at Summerslam, WWE’s second biggest annual PPV. But a lot of fans believe, given Vince’s history of allegedly favouring big muscle jocks over small athletic technical guys, plus the whole “Super Cena” thing, that Danielson will lose, and get shuffled back down the card to chase the intercontinental title.
This is utter nonsense, and I’ll tell you why.
Most WWE titles are ornamental at best, and mean next to nothing. They’re props in feuds. They have no real meaning or significance. The Only two titles that the WWE really actually cares about are the Ic and WWE championships.
While the ‘E occasionally acknowledges the long rich history of the World Title, Aka “The Big...

WWE are in the middle of a ratings crisis if you would believe some commentators as well as ‘inside sources’ due to the clashes that programs such as Monday Night Raw has with NBA playoff matches at the pointy end of the 2012/2013 NBA season. As such, many in the company-particularly in the creative department have been racking their brains for a way to bring more TVs tuned in on their channel as opposed to the opposition.
As we are not in the build up yet to one of the big four PPVs (Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, Summerslam and of course Wrestlemania) the company cannot simply rely on its part time marquee talent such as the Rock or the Undertaker to bump up ratings. Instead, they have decided to bring Vince and Stephanie McMahon back on TV in a angle that involves Triple H and whether he is truly fit to...

This year is turning out to be a fantastic one for long time WWE fans like myself. The Rock finally regained the Championship belt after a decade, The Undertaker defied expectation and injury to have one of the finest matches of his career at Wrestlemania Xxix against Cm Punk, and the WWE just keep on putting out seriously great DVD/Blu-rays. In recent months we've been treated to the Top 100 Moments in Raw History (reviewed here) and The Attitude Era (reviewed here), and now comes another veritable treasure trove in the form of The Best of In Your House.
Originally created to fill the void between the big five Pay-per-views (PPV) - Wrestlemania, Survivor Series, King of the Ring, Royal Rumble and SummerSlam - after bitter rivals WCW introduced monthly PPVs, In Your House ran for four years between 1995 and 1999, racking up a total of 28 events. The first, held at...

Cm Punk has held the WWE Championship for a year, the longest title reign of the modern era, but will that reign continue when he’s faced with not one, but two opponents – John Cena and the man who was robbed of becoming champion previously, Ryback, in a Triple Threat Match. Plus with it being Survivor Series, there’s a staple of the event, a Traditional Survivor Series Match pitting Team Foley vs. Team Ziggler, and more!

As one of the most popular wrestlers ever, The Rock has been electrifying audiences since his debut at Survivor Series 1996 and for the next seven years the Great One reached heights only enjoyed by the likes of Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold.
When he arrived in ’96 Rocky was met with cries of ‘Die Rocky Die’. Who knew that the green third generation star would become an eight-time WWE Champion?
Here are the top ten moments during The Rock’s time in the WWE.
10. ‘But My Name’s Billy’
We’ll start with one of the most famous Rock promos. Let’s be honest, there are plenty of quotes I could have included on this list but where better to start than the promo that almost single-handedly killed off Mr Ass’s solo push.
As Summerslam ’99 approached The Rock was going through a rare phase – the WWF didn’t know what to do with him.

As we’re just hours away from the fourth annual TLC event (at the time of writing), I’d like to call for an end to the gimmick pay-per-view. Now before I get started, this isn’t going to be a nostalgic article calling for the return of pay-per-views such as Backlash, Judgment Day and No Mercy. Although I enjoyed the Attitude Era, I realise that time has passed. One flaw that I’ve identified in WWE’s product in recent years is predictability. As a writer, I know the importance of keeping the audience asking questions and WWE simply just do not do this anymore. Pro-wrestling is storytelling in more ways than one. The wrestlers tell a story when they are inside the squared circle and in the age of sports-entertainment, there’s usually an even larger story taking place outside of the ring.

With the release of Thq’s WWE 13 approaching us with renewed en-vigour I decided to look back on arguably, and there will always be arguments, the most iconic and popular eras in professional wrestling; The Attitude Era. So pop a top on a can of woop-ass, fold up your steel chair and start shining up your size 13′s as I take an indepth look as to why we loved this time in wrestling so much…
1. Wrestling Grew Up…Kinda
Look at the difference between the characters, colours, costumes, etc. of the 80′s Rock ‘n’ Wrasslin’ era in comparison to the Attitude Era; the 80′s as a decade was all colour and vibrancy, which can be seen through and through in the wrestling at this time, in fact the darkest it probably got was when Undertaker emerged from Death Valley at Survivor Series 1990. Attitude in its very nature was summed up...
