An insult as opposed to a homage
mandiebaby31 January 2009
Where "Cantata for the King" supposedly pays homage to the late King of Rock 'n' Roll, I find instead it poses as an insult. Songs were changed to the point where they were nearly not recognizable. If it wasn't for me knowing the lyrics, I do not believe I would have known the show was about Elvis. The setting was a church, and the actors acted as such. I don't recall Elvis being God, so worshiping him in the manner that the show portrayed I found to be blasphemous. I found the whole show insulting, and disgusting. Elvis' songs were not opera. Elvis didn't sing reggae. It was time wasted that I'll never get back. The ONLY redeeming factor was the clips of Elvis throughout the show. However, I feel that Elvis is now turning in his grave. I don't believe that any Elvis fan would recommend this show to anyone, and that they would more compelled to steer anyone clear of it.
