Chip Gaines is showing off a shiny head for St. Jude Hospital. The “Fixer Upper” star, whom we’re used to seeing with long locks, shaved his head after raising $230,092 for the Memphis Texas hospital. The other half of the Hgtv duo, wife Joanna, took to Instagram to show a bunch of young patients rubbing […]...

In concept alone, this episode of Arrow has the potential to be one of the best installments ever. As the title ("Deathstroke Returns") makes clear, Slade Wilson makes his proper return to the series for his own story, as Oliver accompanies him to go an international mission to save Slade's son. Yet Arrow has more treats in store than more of Slade's wonderful gravely whisper. The other half of the episode takes place in Star City. In other words, the show focuses on one of the most interesting (new) members of Team Arrow: Dinah Drake aka the Black Canary.

One of the first movies I remember discussing with friends at school that didn’t have Indiana Jones or Star Wars in the title, was the 1990 version of Lord of the Flies. Being roughly the as old as the actors in the film made it more relatable to kids my age. We talked about which group we would join, or how we would rule if we were the leader. It was also one of the only R rated films I was allowed to watch at the time, and the same went for most of my friends.

Basma Alsharif has garnered attention worldwide for her installations and shorts over the last few years. Her work invites the viewer to re-think the depiction of language, time and space, and to re-experience the understanding of creating images and telling stories.I interviewed the filmmaker about her feature debut Ouroboros, which will have its world premiere as part of the Signs of Life competition at the 70th Locarno Film Festival.Notebook: Could you comment on the process of creating this film as a mirror to your own experience and also as a bridge to your filmmaking ideas? Basma Alsharif: As a Palestinian in the Diaspora, I have watched and experienced the perpetual destruction of the Gaza Strip throughout the course of my life—as it has throughout my parents' lives and my grandparents' lives. With the privilege of distance coupled with the privilege of having access to visiting throughout my childhood into adulthood,...

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Even with a star canine and the second word of its title, “Downward Dog” is one of the most human shows on TV.
Allison Tolman plays Nan, the show’s lead character, through a string of ups and downs that come when professional and romantic life have their uncertainties. Working on the marketing team for a clothing retailer while working through a breakup, Nan has a sleazy boss and an ambiguous dating situation.

With the eighth (!!) “Fast and Furious” feature zooming into theaters, it’s time to look back and marvel at some of the past decade’s other big achievements in high-octane action. While the Vin Diesel-starring franchise might have a monopoly on auto-based mayhem, a slew of other features have made a solid case for their ability to wield cars (and very, very good drivers) as weapons of major entertainment.

Working out what stars go in what order on a movie poster is quite a job. And causes many, many arguments...
Billing can be important to an actor's career. Arguably, it's more important to their ego. Most of all, though, it's cross-eyed dead crucial to their agent. The order in which actor's names appear on a poster might be contested as if it's a matter of life or death. It's no exaggeration to say that people have been sent to the electric chair with less wrangling or dispute than a handful of movie star names have been splashed onto a poster.
To be 'top of the bill' originally meant, literally, that your name is at the top of the bill – i.e. the poster. In variety theatre or music hall terms, this implies that you would take the stage last of all, the big attraction that the...

The fight of the year has finally arrived.
Fist Fight has arrived in theaters today with Charlie Day and Ice Cube going toe-to-toe in the ultimate teacher fight.
The film is about two high school teachers prepared to solve their differences the hard way after school. On the last day of the year, a mild-mannered high school English teacher Andy Campbell (Day) is trying his best to keep it together amidst senior pranks, a dysfunctional administration and budget cuts that put jobs on the line. But things go from bad to worse when he accidentally crosses his much tougher and deeply feared colleague, Ron Stricklan (Ice Cube), who challenges Campbell to an old-fashioned throw down after school. News of the fight spreads like wildfire and ends up becoming the very thing this school, and Campbell, needed.
It also stars Tracy Morgan, Jillian Bell, Dean Norris, Christina Hendricks, Dennis Haysbert, Kumail Nanjiani and JoAnna Garcia Swisher.

Mincing words is the last thing Pope Pius Xiii would want us to do here, so we'll say it plain: Tonight's episode of The Young Pope is absolutely magnificent. It juggles the climaxes of two major storylines, either of which could command an entire hour on their own, as effortlessly as the Holy Father juggles oranges. Whether it's Cardinal Gutierrez trying to bring down the abusive Archbishop Kurtwell or Pius making peace with the dying Cardinal Spencer, every image feels deeply considered. Every character is full and fleshed out. Not a moment is wasted.

Chicago Fire has been a roller coaster for the last few weeks, up and down and stomping on our heartstrings. Chicago Fire Season 5 Episode 11 starts out as a way for both the characters and audience to decompress from that - and then promptly goes nuts again because it can.
The major thrust of the episode is Casey and Dawson trying to resume their lives after losing Louie to his biological father Andre. Both of them take it badly but they express their grief in two totally different ways.
Casey gets the anger side of the equation, snapping at everyone else around him and turning into the world's biggest neat freak when Herrmann thinks there's a rat in Firehouse 51. Seriously, Niecy Nash would be proud of how much cleaning he makes everyone else do. After she gave him a talking-to about his attitude.
Hey, Lieutenant, is there something you want to get off your chest?...

It's another year so it's time for another One Chicago crossover.
Chicago Pd Season 4 Episode 9 picks up where Chicago Fire Season 5 Episode 9 left off, and does it one better by not treading as familiar territory as the first half.
"Don't Bury This Case" starts off with Kelly Severide being the prime suspect in a fatal car accident but that tension doesn't last very long at all. One Chicago fans know Severide can't go to prison, so within 20 minutes Cpd have moved on to the real perpetrators.
This is where Chicago Pd gets smart.
Rather than try to stretch out the false suspense about Severide for an entire hour, it lets fans squirm just a bit before presenting an alternative theory of the crime and then gets its tension from whether or not Intelligence will be able to prove Severide's innocence.
It creates a fairly elaborate plot involving a gang of...

For many years, John Hamburg was known as the guy who wrote Meet the Parents and its sequels, but in 2009, he directed a comedy that would become a popular favorite, I Love You, Man, starring Paul Rudd and Jason Segel. It also helped solidify the terms “bromance” and “man-cave” in the public vernacular.
Hamburg returns this week with Why Him? a comedy that pits Bryan Cranston against James Franco in the high concept of a father having to adjust to his daughter’s new boyfriend. In the case of Franco, he’s playing an eccentric billionaire named Laird Mayhew, while Cranston plays the straight-ahead Ned Fleming, Midwest father of Zoey Deutch’s Stephanie, who has been seeing Laird without her family knowing. To make up for it, Laird invites Ned, his wife (Megan Mullally) and Stephanie’s younger brother Scotty (Griffin Gluck) out to his Silicon Valley mansion over the holidays to impress them.

Just when you think you know what's going on, they pull the rug right out from under you.
At least that's how Rafael looked by the end of Jane the Virgin Season 3 Episode 7. Rafael focused on his memories of his mother and him at a convent, but the startling reveal by the Mother Superior may have him wishing he never remembered at all.
Elsewhere in the episode, Jane tried to reconnect with her religious side, Rogelio tried a matchmaking service, and Catalina was definitely up to no good.
As far as mid-season finales go, this one was lukewarm at best. The reveal that Rafael is not a Solano was a great cliffhanger, but the build up to the bombshell wasn't satisfying.
I'm a huge fan of Alfred Hitchcock films, but the incorporation of that genre style just didn't mesh well into the plot. I normally love the fantasy sequences in this show,...

Whaaatt?!!
There were a few surprises on Secrets and Lies Season 2 Episode 8. There were also a few things that weren't much a surprise. That reveal at the end for instance.
We've all been pretty much super suspicious of John Warner, so that ending was more like confirmation than anything else. The real question is whether he is really the blackmailer. If he is the blackmailer than why?
The rest of the episode revolved around Eric, Patrick, Melanie, and flashbacks.
Things I'm not a fan of? Unnecessary flashbacks. There were so many of them in the episode, and to be honest, most of them served no real purpose for the plot or the narrative so it felt like a filler episode before the finale.
Did we need to see a flashback of Danny with his daughter when she was 10? No. Did we really need the flashback to up the young Warner children to up the angst?...

Every now and again there's that episode of a crime drama where you hate the bad guy so much you get caught up in it. Chicago Pd Season 4 Episode 7 is one of those episodes. We all know who did it, we just want the Cpd Intelligence Unit to prove it so we can enjoy their downfall.
The State's Attorney's Office is sure that its present defendant, who has skated on numerous charges before, just had a witness killed so that he can skate again. It's up to Intelligence - namely a very brassed-off Erin Lindsay - to prove that and make sure Oliver Tuxhorn gets what he so richly deserves.
If you don't, a serial rapist and murderer walks.

A couple of months ago, we noted how it’s been a seriously underwhelming year for Chinese-language cinema – an assessment that stands despite the recent release of Berlinale-winner Crosscurrent. Well, turns out the Middle Kingdom might have a year-end surprise or two up its sleeve after all. Having scored a Fipresci prize at Toronto and the prestigious Golden Seashell at San Sebastián, I Am Not Madame Bovary is a healthy return to form for veteran director Xiaogang Feng that, while not exactly hitting the ball out of the park, delivers a genuinely funny, slyly observant diagnosis of contemporary China complete with lush, absurdist flair.
The many cultural references that give a societal satire like this its texture but inevitably get lost in translation begin with the title. Instead of Flaubert’s world-known creation, it’s actually Pan Jinlian that our heroine Li Xuelian (played by Bingbing Fan) denies of being.

We all love the classic Walt Disney Animation movies, but they have especially significant meaning for young children who often watch them over and over again and use them as a gateway into the world of film. But sometimes watching the movies isn't enough; sometimes you want to surround yourself with those characters as much as possible.

Well that escalated quickly! Fear The Walking Dead Season 2 has really focused on a more spiritual approach of dealing with the Zombie Apocalypse. Last weeks episode had a heavy focus on Nick's spiritual walk leading him to a colony that is holding hope that they will wait out the end of the world. "Los Muertos" picked up Nick's story and also picks up with Madison, Strand, Alicia, and Ophelia.
Nick continues to figure what he wants to become in the apocalypse. The further that Nick gets himself cleaner of drugs he begins to realize that there is more to life than he realized. Just like at Celia's place Nick has befriended himself with the leader of the colony who is a pharmacist who has seemed to survived a bite from a zombie. Nick also comes to realize that the people he is living with have a different perspective of the zombies.

Lena Adams-Foster is at her wits end!
It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that in The Fosters Season 4 Episode 6 Lena finally snapped. She's dealing with Mariana's situation with Nick, Brandon living with Courtney, and Stef's frustration over Brandon living with Courtney.
On The Fosters Season 4 episode 5 she found out that her parents were in a financial bind.
Lena is known for being the calmer of the Moms. The fact that she internalizes so much means she's prime for being a walking time bomb. Hurricane Lena was in full effect. No one was exempt from her wrath, but honestly it was all warranted.
He owes the IRS almost $300,000 Lena.

Aubrey was able to live out his dream as he and the team tried to catch a jewel thief on Bones Season 11 Episode 21.

I was afraid that Inspector Rousseau was going to be nothing more...

I didn’t think that Chadwick Grey and Henri had the exact same build, especially since Henri was played by Gilles Marini, but I suppose that since I have no personal, hands on experience, I’ll have to take their word on that.
I was afraid that Inspector Rousseau was going to be nothing more...

Mainstream cinema is having a rough summer, qualitatively... but let's honor what mainstream cinema often does best, for this episode of the Halfway Mark Review. Which is to say the broad strokes of Good vs Evil.
Not that mainstream movies always ace this low bar, mind you: Marvel remains mostly terrible at crafting villains, Batman v Superman was so inept that it didn't even understand that you need heroes in superhero movies. X-Men Apocalypse was a crowded repetitive mess on either side of the good/bad divide. But enough about stinkers - happy thoughts: Bests!
Heroes of the Year
• The Avengers (Chris Evans, Cast & FX Team) in Captain America: Civil War
Can't they all just get along? While it'd be silly to say that Civil War doesn't tell you which team to be on (Hint: it's in the title) it does offer up enough sympathetic furrowed brow angst when looking...

Thousands of mourners lined the streets of Muhammad Ali's hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, Friday morning to say goodbye to the legendary boxer. The 19-mile, 17-car procession marked the three-time heavyweight boxing champion's final tour around his hometown, including a stop at landmarks in Ali's life. Mourners chanted, "Ali! Ali!" as helicopters buzzed overhead and crowds stood on the streets as the legend embarked on his final journey around the town. In front of Cave Hill cemetery, where Ali will be buried, dozens laid flower pedals on the ground. Ali died on June 3 at a hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, where...

As far as politicians go, Lyndon Baines Johnson was the boss hog. Just as he had in his days in the Senate, President Johnson would take to strong-arming his agenda past any suit unlucky enough to cross him, using everything from trapping folks in an elevator to whipping out his own President Johnson (aka “Jumbo”) and waving it at adversaries to imaginably stupefying effect.
Thankfully, there’s no appearances by the Executive Branch in All the Way, Jay Roach’s adaptation of the play by Robert Schenkkan, airing Saturday on HBO. The story follows Johnson, here played by Bryan Cranston, over his year-long “first term” as president, from Parkland in ‘63 to the polls in ‘64, mostly eyeing his role in passing the latter year’s Civil Rights Act. No shortage of gushing will be given to Cranston for “resurrecting” or “disappearing into” Lbj (he won a Tony for it on Broadway,...

Who are the funniest, wackiest, cleverest, wittiest comic actors in the history of film and television? Take a look at our list and see who we came up with.
The top 25 laugh-getters…
#25…George Carlin: Probably the best stand-up comedian of all-time. He brilliantly satirized American culture, mixing his liberal social commentary with an often unapologetically coarse and dirty style of language. His penchant for obscenities was most evident in his trademark routine “Seven words you can never say on television”. No one was better at mocking the excesses of American culture than Carlin.
#24…Robin Williams: He had a manic energy and great improvisational skills. His hyper, free-form style inspired many comedians to follow, such as Jim Carrey. He shot to fame in the TV series Mork & Mindy, before breaking away to very successful movie career, appearing in films like Good Morning Vietnam, The World According to Garp, Mrs. Doubtfire and Popeye.

Back in my high school years, I was turned onto the mainstream industrial canon (Nin, Marilyn Manson, Gravity Kills) by my older step-brother who wisely knew there was more to the world than nu-metal. But it was at the point that he started getting into more esoteric, “traditional” industrial (Velvet Acid Christ, Vnv Nation) that I went in a totally different direction; I became obsessed with digital hardcore, which came by an industrial-sounding aesthetic from the direction of punk, fusing molten, mutilated dance music with the obnoxiousness of punk turned to 11. Not that we didn’t share those obsessions but we had our respective specialties. Vampyre Anvil is somewhat of a marriage of those two obsessions and yet harkens back to those “mainstream” industrial icons whose music we both appreciated deeply.
This comes as no surprise; one half of Vampire Anvil is Jason Novak whose career in industrial music began...

Good news: Arrow is back.
Bad news: it’s still a bit of a mess, and one that’s going to continue dividing its fanbase.
After a month off the show returns with Broken Hearts, and very heavily deals with the broken hearts of Oliver and Felicity, after the latter very literally walked out on the show’s hero in the last episode before the break.
The relationship drama is the focus of half the episode, and it’s the part that’s going to cause division and frustration amongst fans. At this stage, where it’s still refusing to fully commit to a resolution either way, and dedicating large chunks of episodes getting in the way of the overarching story, means it doesn’t do much to serve the characters or the plot, whatever your view on Olicity.

The best advice I could give you during a film festival is to take at least one day off. Watching movies is wonderful fun, but there comes a point around day 5 or 6 when the idea of a movie just feels exhausting and all you want to do is lay on your bed, eat, and watch television.
So for the most part of my Tuesday I chilled at home, munching on avocado toast and lounging on my comfortable queen size bed reflecting on the films I have so far seen this festival (this also helped because Letterboxd came out with an app and I could rate all of them from my phone!). I came up with a list of favorites because I am obsessed with ranking and rating things. So below I have listed the films I have seen at SXSW so far from most favorite to least:

NBCUniversal has rolled out its answer to the rising demand for subscription-based digital platforms. The Comcast-owned company has officially launched SeeSo, which offers paying subscribers a glut of on-demand comedy content.
SeeSo subscriptions cost $3.99 per month and provide access to full episodes of NBC comedies, including all 40 seasons of Saturday Night Live. The other half of NBCU’s SeeSo pitch is centered around original programming; subscribers will be able to watch series like the Amy Poehler-led Ucb Show and The Cyanide and Happiness Show, the latter of which is pictured above. Twenty-five years ago, costume designer Margot Wilson was a student living in Paris when she picked up a roll of red, moire silk fabric during a shopping trip to Milan. She didn’t know why, or what for; she wasn’t even a costume designer then, just a talented young fashion grad from East Sydney Tech on a six-month scholarship to France. When it was time to go home, she took the beautiful roll of fabric back down under with her.
Fast forward three decades and a couple of dozen films later (including Lantana, Bran Nue Dae and Lawless), and Wilson has finally found a screen role for her magnificent weave – on Oscar winner Kate Winslet in the film adaptation of Rosalie Ham’s bestselling novel, The Dressmaker. “I’ve been carrying that roll of fabric around forever,” laughs Wilson, who designed all of Winslet’s costumes in the movie.

Whichever side of the line you stand on, it's safe to say that everyone was super into Tom. Tom Flynn was on Monday night's Jeopardy! episode, and he was really, really ridiculously good-looking. So good-looking that he apparently kept spotting his own reflection in the lens of the camera because he could not stop modeling the different contours of his face for the audience at home.
