Molly Star-Racer, a combination of traditional 2D animation and state of the art CGI cut to fast Japanese techno beats, was leaked onto the internet in 2001, generating hundreds of thousands of downloads. This attracted the attention of mainstream media such as Japanese TV show "Digital Stadium", which aired the film in 2002 on the NHK. Winner of a LEAF Award at the 2001 London Effects And Animation Festival and nominated for Best Editing at the Imagina Awards, Molly, Star-Racer (2001) would finally evolve five years later into Sav! The World productions' hit TV series Oban Star-Racers (2006).
