Sex & Nudity

  • None.
  • Woody explains, "My dillydink is my penis."
  • A young boy slips a handful of earthworms into the trousers that he is wearing through the opening at the waist and, as implied, into his underwear as well (presumably briefs or whatever could hold the material in place around the crotch area). In reaction, he can be seen briefly grabbing at his crotch through his trousers and then briefly performing a twerkish sort of dance/march.

Violence & Gore

  • There is no gore, but some earthworms are shown being cooked/processed in various ways or slurped up outright. The extent of the violence is a child shoving another child down in the course of bullying.
  • A young teenage boy bullies a preteen boy, smearing a jelly/jam-covered slice of bread on the younger boy's left cheek.
  • Some bruising can be seen on the faces of some of the children. (In one case, these are likely actual bruises on the actor, as he had been injured in accidental bicycle collision on the first day of shooting.)
  • Throughout the movie, Billy eats 10 earthworms; including blended, crushed, barbecued, fried and with no processing.
  • An earthworm explodes in a microwave oven. Guts are seen.
  • (There is a disclaimer at the end reading, "No worms were harmed in the making of this movie." The shot of the exploding earthworm is briefly shown again, "Not even this one.")

Profanity

  • None.
  • A colloquial reference is made to male genitalia but without containing any words ordinarily understood to be curse words or swearing in any context.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Humiliation and subjective nausea are major themes of the story, but there are no particularly frightening or intense scenes. If any less violence and obliteration of earthworms were depicted, and the underwear earthworms scene toned down, then the movie would be suitable for general audiences.
