The first short film by Casper Andreas
preppy-329 July 2012
Casper Andreas did this short between his first two feature films--"Slutty Summer" and "A Four Letter Word". It's about a young Swedish man named Simon (Daniele Teodoro) who lives in NYC and is gay (his family doesn't know). One day his 82 year old grandmother Mormor (Ingrid Soderblom) shows up with no warning whatsoever. He finds out she's run away from the nursing home because she wants to be on her own for a while. Then her and her grandson discuss life, love, sex and various things all in Swedish (there are subtitles).

If you ignore the highly unlikely premise (an elderly woman who can't speak English flies from Sweden to NYC AND gets to her grandson's apartment on her own) then you might enjoy this. There's no big twists here and no real story but the acting is good, the script interesting and I happen to like all of Andreas' films so it's interesting to see what he does with a short and not a feature film. Good little movie that has been very popular at film festivals. It comes as an extra on the DVD of "Between Love & Goodbye". Recommended.
