Melissa Joan Hart‘s three sons with husband Mark Wilkerson buck the expectation of a tech-obsessed next generation growing up with screens constantly in their faces.
“There isn’t really one thing they value more than going outside to play with neighborhood kids,” the actress, 41, tells People in this week’s issue. “They don’t really like electronics, and they are just as happy reading as playing with toys.”
Though the Watcher in the Woods director says she wishes she could limit screen time even more for Tucker, 5, Braydon, 9½, and Mason, 11, she considers it a victory to have curbed her kids’ soda cravings.

Tucker Carlson ripped Huffington Post writer Alex Mohajer as “so stupid” and a “Democratic political operative” for writing a piece calling on a federal judge to step in to prevent Donald Trump’s inauguration because “Hillary Clinton is the rightful President-elect of the United States.” It’s safe to say Carlson doesn’t agree with that theory. “How does this work exactly?” Carlson said on his Fox News show Wednesday, kicking off a combative interview with Mohajer. “I mean, the rest of us sort of assume that once you win the presidential election, you get to be president. But you say no.

Australian film The Sapphires has developed an iPhone and iPad app to accompany the film’s national theatrical release.
SoulSync, created by the Digital Arts Network, formerly Tequila, is a lip-syncing app that syncs the user’s mouth with songs from movie The Sapphires, without singing a word.
It also plants the user in a music video featuring The Sapphires stars Chris O’Dowd and Jessica Mauboy and lets the user post the syncing videos to Facebook.
Developed with assistance from Screen Nsw and Screen Australia, the app for the Hopscotch-distributed film also tells the real story of the young Aboriginal girls in the 1960s who inspired the film as narrated by the film’s screenwriter Tony Briggs.
Russ Tucker, national creative director of Digital Arts Network in Australia said: “The movie and gaming industry is turning its attention more and more to smartphones and apps in order to socialize content.

Being Emmys biggest loser (0 for 21) should have prepared Bill Maher for yesterday's snub by the Oscars for his incendiary feature documentary "Religulous." Though the film, which dares to question organized religion, made a very respectable $12 million at the box office, it divided critical opinion and managed to score only 55 at Metacritic. While it earned raves from the likes of Owen Gleiberman (Entertainment Weekly) and Roger Ebert (Chicago Sun-Times), there were also pans from noted reviewers Kenneth Turan (Los Angeles Times) and Neely Tucker (Washington Post). To earn a place on the short list of 15, "Religulous" needed to pass muster with the documentary branch of the academy. Select branch members screened...

Los Angeles, CA - Watch out Jim, it might just be "According to Sarah." In another shocking move by the McCain-Palin presidential campaign, Governor Sarah Palin will guest star on an upcoming episode of "According to Jim." "My friends, I'm proud to be to be on a maverick ticket comprised of my maverick self and soon-to-be maverick sitcom superstar," stated Senator John McCain at a Florida campaign rally Wednesday. "She is the most qualified politician, my friends, and arguably the brightest comedian in the nation to go toe-to-toe with the comedic genius of Jim Belushi. My friends, Barack Obama is not ready to star in primetime sitcoms." During a short and rare exchange with the press, Governor Palin responded to criticism on whether she has the comedic credentials to share the stage with funnyman legend Jim Belushi. "Of course I do. NEW YORK -- MSNBC on Monday canceled Tucker Carlson's daily show, replacing it for the time being with a campaign-focused hour anchored by NBC News chief White House correspondent David Gregory.
Carlson has had a daily program on MSNBC since June 2005 after he moved to the channel at the invitation of then-MSNBC president Rick Kaplan. Tucker never really found its footing in the ratings, either in late primetime or early evening. Carlson also has hosted CNN's Crossfire and PBS' Tucker Carlson: Unfiltered. He will remain with the network as senior campaign correspondent after the show goes off the air Friday.
In its place will be Race for the White House, hosted by Gregory, who will remain chief White House correspondent as well as fill-in host on Today. Another hour of political news will be televised at 1 p.m. weekdays, anchored by NBC News' Andrea Mitchell.
The network also gave some tweaks to its primetime lineup, giving Countdown With Keith Olbermann other runs at 10 p.m.

MSNBC is moving The Situation with Tucker Carlson to 11 p.m. ET to make way for Rita Cosby's new show and also open up a West Coast front in the cable news war. The former Crossfire co-host moved to MSNBC this year after a well-publicized break with CNN after Carlson said the channel wouldn't give him an 11 p.m. slot. The Situation arrived at MSNBC in June to ratings at 9 p.m. ET that haven't matched Fox News' Hannity & Colmes or even CNN's top-rated show, Larry King Live. But MSNBC president Rick Kaplan said Friday that ratings weren't a factor in relocating The Situation to the final of six hours of live primetime programming in cable news. Kaplan said and 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT live show has been in the plan since well before The Situation debuted. At that time, Fox News reruns The O'Reilly Factor and CNN airs Lou Dobbs Tonight for the West Coast.
