Amazing man, sad to see his health declining so
Aaron_McLane31 December 2005
I had to change the channel after a while because every time Dick Clark came on it was so touching and sad at the same time to see his health in such shape. Dick Clark has been doing this for so long and has been through so many ups and downs it is hard to watch an American legend deteriorate. For someone who has suffered such a major stroke you have to admire his courage for going on TV in his condition. It was hard to get past however, like seeing a loved one or grandparent beginning to lose their memories. My parents grew up with Dick Clark on TV with American Bandstand. I grew up with Dick Clark as a New Years institution. It was a bitter sweet moment to see Dick Clark return to the television event he started. My hat goes off to Mr. Clark an American legend. Happy New year Mr. Clark happy new year to all.

Dick Clark New Years 2006
lhrycak3 January 2006
I thought despite what he has gone trough this past year he looked pretty darn good!! He has never looked his true age, in fact he still looks younger than he actually is. You could tell he worked really hard this past year to prepare himself to be able to ring in the new year once again. It was so wonderful to have him back and I wish him the best for the rest of 2006 and that he continues his remarkable recovery. His determination should keep him around for a very long time to come. He is a true icon and a very amazing man. I look forward to seeing him next year out there with Ryan Seacrest (Who by the way did and excellent job).

American Icon Dick Clark's first appearance on Dec 31st 2005

I was looking forward to seeing Mr. Dick Clark on New Year's Eve as it is something I've done since his New Year's Eve celebration began. I always enjoyed his sense of humor and the way he would work the crowd. Last year I was saddened when I heard of his stroke, yet, all the news media made it seem like it wasn't a big deal, and that he'd be back to himself in no time. I was surprised that he was still struggling to speak last night, and that his voice was not his own. There were a couple of times where I thought I heard the vibrant Dick Clark speaking, and for that I was happy.

I don't think that many people actually thought he'd lose his ability to speak the way he has. I give him credit for ringing in the New Year the best way he could. Hopefully, 2006 will fully restore his speech, and his ability to be the same Dick Clark that we have all known and cared for over the past few years. Happy New Year to Dick Clark, and everyone!
