"She can also project powerful fields of invisible psionic, hyperspace-based energy for a variety of offensive and defensive effects…

Last week, it was announced that Julia Garner will portray MCU’s Silver Surfer. She’ll depict Shalla-Bal, known as Norrin’s love interest in the comics. However, in some versions, Shalla also serves as Galactus’s Herald, known as Sunglow.
Reactions to Julia Garner’s casting were mixed. Some in the community felt that changing Silver Surfer’s gender was disrespectful to the character’s legacy, as most associate the character with being male. Others believe that alternative versions of Silver Surfer, particularly female ones, deserve recognition.
Certainly, there are already calls to boycott the movie, but this isn’t the right approach. Regardless of your stance on the film, it’s important to watch it first, even if just to critique it later with an informed perspective. Speaking of Silver Surfer in live-action, we’ve previously seen him in ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,’ portrayed by Laurence Fishburne and Doug Jones.

Last week it was revealed that MCU’s Silver Surfer will be Julia Garner. Julia will be portraying Shalla-Bal, Norrin’s love interest in the comics, but there is a reality in which Shalla serves as the Herald of Galactus as well, Sunglow.
The reactions to Julia Garner’s casting were extremely polarizing with a good part of the community feeling that genderswapping Silver Surfer, whom 99% of people associate with being male, is extremely disrespectful to the character’s legacy. The second part of the fandom however feels that other versions of Silver Surfer – notably female ones, should get their moment of glory.
Needless to say there are already calls to boycott the movie, but this is wrong, no matter what your feelings are about the movie, you should first watch it, if only so you can criticize it later in an informed way. Now that we’ve touched upon...

Chris Evans might be known best for his role of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but has made quite a name for himself outside the realm of the superhero verse. One of the most talented actors in the film industry today, the actor had humble beginnings as a kid from Boston.

Julia Garner is one of the most promising young actors in the industry at present, and her role in Ozark proved it without a shadow of a doubt. While the actress has carved a niche for herself in the thriller genre, her versatility knows no bounds.
Garner has already found fame with the Netflix show. However, her career is set to get a big boost with Marvel Studios nabbing her to play an iconic character in the new Fantastic Four film. Garner is a rare prodigy, but her one fear on the sets of Ozark proved that she is still as human as anyone else.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to welcome the Fantastic Four. The group, led by The Last of Us fame Pedro Pascal, will pit an older group of superheroes against Silver Surfer and Galactus, two well-known villains. After keeping us guessing for months, Marvel has finally revealed that Julia Garner—best known for starring in the Netflix series Ozark—is being cast as Silver Surfer.
Doug Jones as the Silver Surfer in a still from Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
It should be noted, however, that this version will be Shalla-Bal, Silver Surfer’s romantic interest in Marvel Comics. But it seems not everyone is happy with the latest Marvel update on the upcoming flick.
Lakeith Stanfield, best known for his dynamic acting range in films such as Sorry to Bother You and Judas and the Black Messiah, expressed disappointment when Garner was announced as the new Silver Surfer.

A new Fantastic Four reboot is currently in the works, and this one seemingly intends to right all the wrongs that the previous films from the original saga did. If anything, it seems to be especially setting a different course for the Silver Surfer than was seen in the previous installments, considering the most recent casting reports.

Ozark actor Julia Garner has reportedly signed a deal to play Silver Surfer in Matt Shakman’s take on Marvel’s Fantastic Four.
For a long time, there were lots of questions about which four actors would be lined up to fill the iconic blue onesies worn by the Fantastic Four, Marvel’s family of superheroes due to make their MCU debut next summer. Matt Shakman, the mind behind Marvel Studios’ WandaVision is directing the project, which might just relaunch the MCU as ‘must watch’ moviegoing following two or three years where over-saturation and questionable levels of quality control have seen the films and TV shows dip in popularity.
Back in February that casting would be confirmed and much like the studio’s choice of director, there was a feeling of real promise regarding the actors that had been selected to embody one of Marvel’s most iconic set of characters.

Julia Garner is boarding Marvel’s The Fantastic Four, reportedly signing on to play the Silver Surfer.
According to Deadline, the Emmy-winning Ozark actor will portray a Shalla-Bal version of the classic cosmic comic character. In the original Marvel stories, Shalla-Bal is the lover of Norrin Radd. When the planet-consuming Galactus threatens to devour their home of Zenn-La, Radd offers his servitude as Galactus’ herald, becoming the Silver Surfer in exchange for saving his world — and his lover.
While there are stories in which Silver Surfer shares his Power Cosmic with Shalla-Bal, she never actually carries the Silver Surfer title or appearance. At least not in the main Marvel timeline; fans will recall the alternate reality series Earth-x, where both Radd and Shalla-Bal share the name, look, and powers of Silver Surfer.
Regardless, it seems Shalla-Bal will be the one surfing the skies in silver for The Fantastic Four, and...

/Film recently ranked the five live-action Fantastic Four films and came to the following daring conclusion: Oley Sassone's unreleased 1994 entry "The Fantastic Four" was the best. Many have seen this version of "The Fantastic Four" thanks to the wide circulation of bootleg copies, and it's been ridiculed in many cinematic circles for its low budget (it was made for only $1 million), its corny dialogue, and its aggressively bad special effects. But while the cheapness of Sassone's film is visibly evident -- it was overseen by B-movie elder stateman Roger Corman -- it does manage to capture the comic-operatic tone of the original 1960s comic books. It accurately understands the outsize nature of the characters.

Marvel Studios is constantly trying to adapt to the changing landscape of the MCU despite already laying out the narrative of the franchise from the very beginning. Despite having chances of once again flourishing in the industry like before, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is seemingly taking the hard way by making brutal changes to its characters and transforming the franchise into what fans’ have been terming as “M-She-u” lately.
While this change is clearly not sitting well with fans — especially those who have been attached to the onscreen projects and comics alike right from the start — the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot film has reportedly been caught up in this fire as well.

The Fantastic Four have been cast in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and now they crave a Silver Surfer, taking the franchise one step closer to reflecting its source material, with mutants, mutates, aliens, and sorcerers sharing a superhero universe. The Silver Surfer, as depicted in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
The Silver Surfer is one of the principal characters of the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe. Being a herald of Galactus, his casting in the film would indicate the introduction of the character into the MCU, providing the Marvel Cinematic Universe with yet another heavy hitter like Thanos, Arishem the Judge, Kang, and The High Evolutionary. Here are 3 actors who could portray the role to perfection.

We all know Galactus as one of the most menacing and terrifying beings in the Marvel Universe. Known as the ‘Devourer of Worlds’, he is enormously powerful and towers over entire galaxies, among other things. Who would be the ideal choice for the role if it were to appear on screen in the upcoming The Fantastic Four reboot?
Well, we all know and admire Javier Bardem’s spellbinding performances as twisted villains, don’t we? And even a new rumor suggests that the actor might take on the role of the world-eating villain Galactus in the awaited superhero movie.
The tip came from industry insider Jeff Sneider, who claimed that the same source who told him about Pedro Pascal’s role in the film also informed him of Bardem’s consideration for the part of the iconic, larger-than-life villain. Sneider said that while the Skyfall star might not be in...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a whirlwind of excitement lately, with news and rumors swirling around the highly anticipated Fantastic Four reboot. We were informed of its revised release date and casting news yesterday, Valentine’s Day. Fans are delighted with Pedro Pascal’s casting in the film, but disturbing reports have surfaced regarding Doctor Doom and Silver Surfer’s appearances.
The Og Silver Surfer’s MCU debut is reportedly not happening in the upcoming The Fantastic Four, despite earlier rumors to the contrary. Galactus will still appear in the film, and the character will at least have another herald. Recent reports suggest that Galactus and, more intriguingly, a female Silver Surfer could play antagonistic roles in the movie.
Doctor Doom, the Fantastic Four’s arch-nemesis, is also an important figure in their universe, but his appearance in the MCU is uncertain, according to recent reports.

Obituaries are never easy to write, but this one hits particularly hard given the feeling of so much great work still to come: Andre Braugher, who made a name for himself playing a variety of authority figures in dramas and comedies has died following a brief illness. He was just 61.
André Keith Braugher was born in Chicago in 1962. The prodigious student attended the prestigious St. Ignatius College Prep in his hometown, then earned a BA from Stanford University and a master*s degree from Juilliard — he received scholarships to all three schools.
He considered medicine as a career but saw performing as more exciting. His initial work, as with so many others, was on the stage, in Public Theater Shakespeare in the Park productions in New York City, playing parts in various productions over the years.
His film career was solid, including roles in Glory, Primal Fear, Spike Lee's Get On The Bus,...

The first time I interviewed Andre Braugher, he was uncertain and uncomfortable. It was hard to process, coming from an actor who had made certitude into his calling card. Braugher was righteous and righteously correct or he was nothing, but it took the courage and conviction of an Andre Braugher character to shift that image as wildly and vividly as the actor did in the last third of his career.
It was the fall of 2014, just weeks after the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards. With two earlier wins already to his credit, Braugher had been nominated for the first season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, his first nod in a comedy category. His performance as Capt. Raymond Holt on Brooklyn Nine-Nine was rooted in the years he’d spent playing stern authority figures, but at the same time, this version of the Braugher persona seemed revelatory. Andre Braugher, the dynamic actor known for his outstanding work on such shows as Homicide: Life on the Street and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, has died. He was 61.

In Kenneth Branagh's 2011 fantasy clunker "Thor," Chris Hemsworth plays an extraterrestrial once worshiped on Earth as the Norse God of Thunder. In 2005 and in 2007, director Tim Story made a pair of feature films starring the Fantastic Four, one of Marvel Comics' most superlative titles. "Fantastic Four," created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, was more or less a family sitcom except the three family members and their best friend all happened to have superpowers. It was light and comedic, while also featuring bloviating, demonstrative supervillains who shouted regularly about the glories of world domination. It was a comic book series that declared itself to be The World's Greatest Comics Magazine!
Story's feature film adaptations were not very well received when they were released. 2005's "Fantastic Four" only bears a 28% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while its sequel, "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," only has a 38% approval rating. Despite their declining fortunes at the box office, Marvel Studios seems primed to make a controversial casting choice for the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. While reports have come out that The Queen’s Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy is being eyed for an unspecified villain role, the buzz online is that they want her to play The Silver Surfer. The news of Joy’s casting in the film (not who she’s being rumoured to play) comes from notorious scooper @DanielRPK. This follows recent, unconfirmed reports that the character would be getting gender-swapped in Matt Shakman’s Fantastic Four reboot.

The Silver Surfer hasn’t been treated well on the big screen. When 20th Century Fox announced the character would be appearing in their 2007 sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, well, we’d be lying if we said fans were enthusiastic, given the lackluster reaction to the first film. But, people were happy that Doug Jones would be playing the role in motion capture, even if Lawrence Fishburne doing the voice seemed like an odd mismatch. When it came out in the summer of 2007, reviews were slightly more optimistic than they were for this first film, but it was a box-office disappointment. There’s a whole roster of actors that went through the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. Some of them became worldwide-known stars thanks to their MCU roles. One of them is Chris Evans, who rose to fame thanks to the role of Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, which he played between 2011 and 2019. It’s not that Evans wasn’t known before he played Captain America, but if you show Evans’ picture to anyone and ask them to guess who he is, a good amount of people will tell you: “That’s the guy that played Captain America.”
Evans started his career in the early 2000s by starring in teen movies. In 2005, he gained attention for his role as Johnny Storm, aka Human Torch, in Fox’s ‘Fantastic Four’ movie and its sequel ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer’ in 2007. Have you ever wondered why in the 2023 version of "The Haunted Mansion," Owen Wilson is shown eating a big bag of Burger King and telling Lakeith Stanfield that the fast food chain's fried snacks are literal messages from heaven? Or why while Rambo is being told about his off-the-books, super-secret, clandestine mission to rescue POWs from Vietnam in "Rambo: First Blood Part II," the scene gets interrupted by his superior officer purchasing a Coca-Cola from the Coca-Cola vending machine that he inexplicably has in his office?

Many fans can talk and argue if the Marvel Cinematic Universe is or isn’t what it used to be now compared to its Infinity Saga, but one thing that Marvel Studios always gets right is the casting. Say what you want, but every principal actor that joined the MCU so far has been a spot-on casting for the character they played, even in mixed or negative-reviewed MCU projects. Therefore it’s no wonder that the fans are eagerly waiting for the official reveal of the cast for ‘Fantastic Four,’ one of the upcoming MCU movies set in the franchise’s Phase 6.
The newest Fantastic Four movie has been officially announced by Marvel Studios in December 2020, with Jon Watts set to direct. However, the change of directors happened since then, as Watts abandoned the project and Matt Shakman abandoned directing the new ‘Star Trek’ movie to replace Watts. At 2022’s San Diego Comic-Con,...

In Captain Marvel (2019), the former Kree AI hive-mind ruler, Supreme Intelligence, might have poisoned the titular character’s mind initially by falsifying against the shapeshifting alien race of Skrulls. Disenchanted by the failure of Nick Fury and former Skrull leader Talos to provide the refugee Skrulls with a planet of their own, rebel Skrulls chose the extremist Gravik as their leader. Gravik’s hardliner mindset has been showcased through the Moscow bombing and his willingness to eradicate humanity and make Earth the new home for Skrulls.
