"Die Treppe" can be called - without exaggeration - the promising debut of a talent! Which makes it so great (my opinion), is that he runs toward the otherwise so usual German guidance humor in films. Or at all the slope to tell everything over. Not one minute in this - unfortunately much to short! - film runs the risk to become redundant or boring. The beginning is so good that one would like to built it under monument protection, so that he cannot be stolen by bad "thieves of good ideas" into a weak comedy. It is so good to see a film which can offer dialogs, good cuts, really good music and ideas. Originally, but evenly just as subtly as in its joke. I've rarely seen such a great appearance of a trench coat! The actors carry the film with unobtrusive greatness. Just the expression play by Gerry Jansen is worth to "walk up the stairs". And was surprised "Darling?!" / "Schatz?!" ever more rich of facets than in this movie? Thus: all in all - one can only wish - to see more stairs like these, even if those already went rather high! 10 out of 10 Points
