A radio call to Adam-12 asks for information on a particular car, and Reed replies they'd seen a dark sedan with extensive right-rear fender and bumper damage on which a man was changing a tire. When Malloy and Reed arrive later at the address where the suspect '63 Buick Riviera was parked, the damage clearly was on the left-rear fender and bumper.
The suspect's car is not a '63 Riviera. The trunk lid has "Chevrolet" written across the back and based on the taillights, the car appears to be correctly identified as a '65 Malibu. The damaged quarter panel (fenders are in the front) is correctly identified on the radio as being on the left side.
When the detective opens the trunk, the suspect's gun is sitting on top of the spare tire with other items sitting next to it. It seems unlikely that he could have driven around with the gun sitting like this and have it stay in place.
When the detective cleared the 1911 .45 cal. pistol located in the suspects trunk, he did not first remove the magazine. Ejecting one round with the loaded magazine still inserted would result in another round being fed into the firing chamber.
