One of the few times that in a pursuit, Malloy is the one doing the chase on foot while Reed is behind the wheel.
When Malloy says to Reed, "put out a '4'," he is referring to Code 4, which means no further assistance required.
Reed's article about Malloy is in honor of Malloy's tenth anniversary on the job. When the series began, it was stated that Malloy had been on the job seven years. Only in the assumption that each season of the series is real time i.e. one year, that would make it thirteen years Malloy has been on the job. That real time assumption may not, however, be the case.
