This show was noted for its use of puns and subtle humor. At the beginning when the boys are sending a telegram, they want to use an old expression to show how broke they are by writing that they "don't even have a sous." A 'sous' is an old French coin, approximately worth a penny, so not even having one of those means you're flat broke. However, they don't know how to spell it, so they end using the sound alike word "Sioux". Apparently Mr. McCreedy didn't know any better, as he used the same word for the name of the Indian tribe in his reply.
