"The New Batman Adventures" You Scratch My Back (TV Episode 1997) Poster

Loren Lester: Nightwing, Dick Grayson

Quotes

  • Nightwing : What are you doing here?

Batgirl : Pre-dawn, the dockyards, where else would a person in a mask be?

Nightwing : This is my gig. If I needed you, I would've called.

    Batman : Smugglers?

Nightwing : Gunrunners out of South America. The only cucumbers in those crates are .30 caliber. And here comes the bag boys now.

  • Batman : Not bad.

Nightwing : Yeah, for a guy "your" age.

  • Selina Kyle : I thought I felt a chill.

Batman : I want you to stay away from Nightwing.

Selina Kyle : [Chuckles]  Mother birds usually know when to let their robins leave the nest. He's a big boy-wonder now. A man wonder, in fact.

    Batman : I don't trust you, Selina.

Selina Kyle : Of course you don't. That's why it could have never worked out between us.

Nightwing : Is this a private party?

Selina Kyle : Don't you men ever use the door?

  • Nightwing : What are you doing?

Catwoman : Just collecting what's mine. The cat's-eye emerald, the pearl of Argentina.

    Nightwing : How's that yours?

Catwoman : I took it fair and square. Of course, getting it out of the country was another matter. I knew about Enrique's smuggling operation.

Nightwing : So you slipped it into one of his shipments.

Catwoman : My only problem was figuring out when the shipment was coming in.

Nightwing : You played me for a sap.

Catwoman : Aw, but such a sweet sap. The money the cat's-eye will bring is enough to take us anywhere.

    [Kisses Nightwing]

Nightwing : You know I can't do that.

Catwoman : I guess not. But you can't blame a girl for trying.

  • Batman : You all right?

Nightwing : Just brokenhearted. She led us right to the emerald, just like you said.

Catwoman : You set "me" up!

    Nightwing : Afraid so.

  • [Last lines]

    Batgirl : You all right?

Nightwing : You know me, always happy to have a little help.

  • Nightwing : [leaping to a rooftop after Catwoman]  Next time, give me a little warning.

Catwoman : Sorry. This partner thing is new to me.

Nightwing : Who said anything about...?

  • Catwoman : Enrique el Gancho. Ricky the Hook. Used to be an enforcer down in Colombia. You're welcome, by the way.

    Nightwing : I would've had the guy.

Catwoman : Maybe. So what are we doing here, anyway?

Nightwing : *I'm* following a lead. Seems the Hook was running last night's show.

Catwoman : And you'd like to find out what else he's up to.

    Nightwing : Something like that.

Catwoman : A patrol. Going to be tricky. I'll tell you when we can move.

Nightwing : We? I don't know what your angle is.

Catwoman : Why is it so hard for you people to accept that I've changed? Doesn't anybody believe in redemption anymore?

Nightwing : Why come to me?

Catwoman : Who else would give me the chance? Certainly not your boss.

Nightwing : He's not my boss.

Catwoman : Of course not. You're your own man now, aren't you?

  • Enrique El Gancho : What have we here? Batman-lite? What do you think you're doing?

Nightwing : Apparently, getting set up by my new partner.

Enrique El Gancho : Partner? I think you've miscounted, my friend.

  • Catwoman : Thought I set you up?

Nightwing : It crossed my mind.

  • Nightwing : [spotting the Batmobile]  Yeah. There they are, keeping tabs on me like I was some kind of criminal.

Catwoman : Now you see what I go through.

[putting the tracker under her cat's collar]

Catwoman : Here you go, precious. Have a night on the town.

[as the cat scurries away, they watch the Batmobile peel out in pursuit]

Catwoman : We shouldn't be bothered anymore. Wanna play?

  • Nightwing : I told you I didn't need...

    Catwoman : A gift.

[she blows him a kiss, then acrobatically leaps away; the duct-taped gun-runner mumbles incoherently]

    Nightwing : You said it.

  • Barbara Gordon : A kiss? Why'd you let her go?

Dick Grayson : She didn't do anything except help.

Barbara Gordon : Her kind of help you can do without.

    Dick Grayson : Jealous?

  • Barbara Gordon : What the heck were you doing down by the docks anyway?

Dick Grayson : Just keeping my eye on things. I've been hearing rumors about this South American smuggling ring. Word is something big is coming in and soon.

[taking out his Nightwing suit to change]

Dick Grayson : If you'll excuse me.

Barbara Gordon : There's safety in numbers, you know.

Dick Grayson : You and Bruce don't have to look out for me, Barb. I'm not stupid.

Barbara Gordon : No, you just act that way sometimes.
