Funny, though over-exaggerating
Alterdeus1 October 2007
As a person new to the furry community last year, I joined it hearing all sorts of bad things about this episode.

I finally got a chance to see it for myself awhile back. I have to say, the show kinda over exaggerated about the whole community...

The show made it seem like all furries are nothing but sex fiends that prance around in suits all day. I have to say that's only true for about 5% of the community. Most furries I meet are into being friends and talking and playing games. Only a small few of them are into nothing but sex.

The episode was funny though in showing the outsider reactions by Catherine Willows, who didn't understand that people have different kinks and they are sometimes weird.

I loved how Grissom actually took the time to see what it was all about and try and understand why some people dress up like animals.

In all the episode made me laugh and unlike most furries, I liked it.

Hilarious or Horribly Cringe-Worthy? Why Not Both....
CinematicThylacine23 April 2014
It's funny how when everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) talks about this episode they always focus on the furry-convention mystery and not on the freezer mystery, this shows you how much of an impact the first mystery played on people's perspectives. Some people love this episode, some people hate it, for me it's a weird mix of hilarity and cringing. First off it's pretty hilarious how the makers of the show took an aspect of a sub-culture and completely ran with it in the weirdest way possible. The amount of weird things in this episode makes it weirdly hilarious to me..........

1) Who hosts a furry convention in Las Vegas during the Summer? Fursuits are moving ovens, one does not simply wear one in the heat of the Nevada. To top that off, how did they get enough money to afford a venue in Las Vegas anyways? 2) The fursuits portrayed in the episode are poorly constructed and clunky, these must be the most mediocre furries I've ever seen! They look more like second-rate used baseball mascots from a local high-school then something someone would spend lots of time and money to make.

3) Our "heroes" bringing in lawyer wearing the blue cat costume into the station for questioning! That was so overly-bizarre that I couldn't believe someone actually wrote that, I mean you don't get any more bizarre then the sight of a balding lawyer being handcuffed and escorted into a police station while dressed as a blue "girl" cat.

4) So let me get this correct: the rancher who wildly shoots at a busy high-way because he sees a man in a raccoon-suit isn't charged with murder or the endangerment of other drivers. This would NEVER happen in real-life, believe me....

Of course then we get into the more.... messed up aspects of this episode. I don't want to go into detail on what happens at the convention during the episode, but believe me, it is really messed up and vomit-inducing.

Hiliarious!

I stumbled upon this episode after binging all the episodes of CSI braced myself for some bad stuff. To be honest, some of the way the people act and dress aren't wrong! I'm a furry myself, and this episode wasn't as bad as people made it out to be.

Best Episode ever...at least, funniest
james_corck310 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
At first sight, this episode is one of those you either hate or love. I love it of course, because is veeeery funny. Marg Helgenberger's performance is the best part of this episode, her innocence as watching the shocking (and true) events in furry conventions with memorable quotes ("This is weirding me out" or "What had happened to normal sex?") and memorable face expressions. The other best bit is William Petersen's fascination for furry community, and looking himself comfortable among all the furry lovers.

In resume, a great episode. And the side story with Nick and Sarah is funny as well.

Rip Rocky the Raccoon
ulisesmunoz-682202 June 2022
I'm a furry raccoon too and i kinda felt bad for him. He really liked raccoons, with all the photos and plushies filling his house, that's obsession and not typically furry behaviour lol.

Grissom, we aren't looking for our animal wild side, we just enjoy anthropomorphic animals from cartoons or the ones we create.

It's a funny episode after all, mostly for how they think the community is (oh my god these cheapy costumes).

People Actually Do This!
Hitchcoc22 January 2021
After reading the indignant reviews, I realize this is an actual pastime. To each his own, I guess. Of course, the writers are going to play much of this for humor. It is people dressed up as animals pretending to be something they are not. I just found it rather tiresome and only the conclusion drew my interest. There was a second case, a shooting in a big walk in freezer. Not my favorite offering.

Weird Episode
claudio_carvalho28 December 2022
Weird Episode While driving on the road, Linda Jones hits something, brakes, changes lanes and then collides a semi-trailer truck, immediately dying. Grissom, Catherine, Warrick and Capt. Brass investigate the scene and soon Grissom finds a man dressed in a raccoon fur suit. Their further investigation shows a bullet wound in the fur and identifies the victim as Robert Pitt. In his house, they find a calendar marking a weird convention in a hotel and Grissom goes with Catherine to the place to seek out new evidences. Meanwhile, Nick, Sara and Det. Sam Vega investigate the death of Al Sesto, found frozen on the floor of a warehouse. They find that he was murdered by a shotgun blast trying to escape and the night security guard Petey becomes the prime suspect.

"Fur and Loathing" is a weird episode of "CSI". The segment with sick people dressed in fur is annoying and the coincidence in the end is ironic. The death of Al Sesto is easily resolved by Sara and Nick. My vote is seven.

Title (Brazil): "Pele e Delírio em Las Vegas" ("Skin and Delirium in Las Vegas")

No.

As a furry myself, I can 100% guarantee that this is completely false.

It makes me sick to think that this serves as a basis for people's opinions on us. They probably didn't do any sort of research before writing this episode. We are being depicted as a sex-crazed cult, when all we are is a group of people who think cartoon animals are cool. It's not that hard to understand.

Wrong portrayal of furries and awful acting.
sansmewton4 October 2017
Cheap looking, poorly acted, annoying, and insulting. Every single fursuit looks cheap and ugly, the idea was so bad they couldn't even hire people with real fursuits. The plot is irritating and predictable, it disrespects an entire group of people, and makes false scientific claims and accusations. The visuals of this work are also disgusting. This is an insult, to furries and everyone else alike. I do NOT recommend this episode, nor do I recommend any of them.

Stupid (May contain spoilers)
zombiebegone18 August 2011
Warning: Spoilers
As a furry that's been to fur cons I know this episode is 95% full of crap. And even if I wasn't a furry I imagine I'd think it'd be pretty far off as well. The case wasn't that interesting, and the whole thing felt half-baked like they wrote themselves into a corner. And the 'fur suits' they used were pathetic, like they knew they couldn't get real fur suiters to take part in such face palmingly stupid disgrace, so they bought some cheap mascot costumes and some masks and asked random people if they wanted to wear them for a quick buck. I like CSI, but some episodes are good, some are not, and this is not. It's just not well thought out at all and comes off as weird to even a furry. It feels like they didn't care about doing research about furries at all and just slapped together an episode about them because they needed a subculture to use (and humiliate) for an episode.

Horrible just Horrible
ngisne20 May 2023
As a furry this absolutely sucks they get more things wrong about us than an Darkdom video. This is probably where all of the stereotypes came from due to people assuming CSI is fact. I have no opinion on this episode other than Fur and Loathing for this episode I am speechless. And worse I have to add even more text here So I can post the Dang thing. And they couldn't get the fursuits right even what is the entire point of this episode anyways? Music is more accurate at depicting the target thing of the work and that is absolutely awful I might have to tear into the creator of this episode because of the episode.
