- This episode is one of the classic plots where a big city detective gets stuck in the quagmires and shady happenings in a small town. This includes the shady law enforcement in a small town. An inmate in a small town (Jacksville, CA) commits a robbery in an act of revenge. The robbery victim is convinced he knows who the robber is because of the motive. Cannon finds out that the suspect is in jail in a small town. He tries to get to talk to the robber but finds it difficult to do so. He has to deal with the various law and security guard characters who give him the runaround there. Eventually, he gets to talk to him, and Cannon suspects that the inmate committed the robbery, but was let out of prison in order to do so. The episode then turns into Cannon trying to find the accomplices who let the inmate out. This turns out to be a security guard Murdoch and his boss. The accomplices panic that Cannon is honing in on them, so they send the inmate out into a field in order to kill him. Just as Murdoch was about to kill him, Cannon shows up.
