Rosebud was a Studebaker
kevinolzak11 July 2016
"E Pluribus Used Car" was the first really weak episode, with garbage man Louie Wilson giving up Rosebud, his most cherished possession, a battered Studebaker that he expects Ed Brown to sell for $3000. Chico figures he can sell anything, but attorney Raoul Gomez (Rene Enriquez) won't pay the asking price of $800, going for half that amount. No sooner is the money in Ed's hand than the car sputters and gasps its last, while the irate customer fumes at Ed's refusal to grant a refund. Chico is puzzled by this, until Ed confides that he was once represented in a lawsuit by Gomez, who failed to win the case. Gomez the client, accompanied by Gomez the lawyer, cannot convince Ed to do the right thing, but Chico has a way to get through to The Man. Not only was this the second appearance for Scatman Crothers, but also for Isaac Ruiz as Mando (second of seven), here established as Chico's buddy, a butcher rather than his initial occupation of construction worker in "Borrowed Trouble."
