Miss Jeff Donnell as widow Peggy Randall
kevinolzak23 July 2016
"Matchmaker, Matchmaker" features veteran actress and comedienne Jeff Donnell as Peggy Randall, a widow who gets set up by Della with grouchy old Ed Brown. In describing Ed as a 'fabulous mechanic,' she is flattered by his response to examining her vehicle to see if it's in good shape: "if it's in half the shape you're in, it's worthwhile looking into!" Things go swimmingly until Ed finds out from big mouth Louie that Della was responsible for their meeting, wrongly assuming that Peggy has been coached in the ways of his beloved late wife. We learn about Ed's first fateful meeting with Margaret, when she came into his father's butcher shop to buy a pair of panties, lamb chop panties! Chico recalls that Margaret was a lifelong vegetarian, leading Ed to suspect that this too was an arranged meeting. Peggy apologizes for calling Ed an old walrus: "I am an old walrus, but you make me feel like a young sea lion!"
