A Model T mind in a Maserati world
kevinolzak10 July 2016
"Old Dog" finds Chico trying hard to get Ed to move into the 20th century in his mode of thinking, bringing in books on foreign cars to attempt to upgrade the garage's technology. Ed's resistance baffles Chico: "don't you see, you've got a Model T mind in a Maserati world!" Mail lady Mabel (Bonnie Boland) again flirts with Ed, delivering a nude calendar which she insists her mother posed for, as Chico takes a closer look! His outmoded mind gets a sound retort as she departs: "I don't know why you take care of cars, you should be shoeing horses!" After an altercation with a German car, Ed thinks he's washed up for good, showing Chico a gold plated wrench from his first year on the job, with an inscription: "to Ed Brown, master mechanic, 1935." The German car returns and this time the old dog shows his stuff, or at least two out of three. The episode ends with Chico serenading Ed with a song composed just for him.
