"Reverend Bemis' Altar Ego" marked the last of nine appearances for Ronny Graham's Reverend Bemis, who unfortunately added little to the show's second season. He is despondent over his shrinking congregation, and that the last five babies he baptized baptized him back! Trying out Chico's advice to use humor, the Reverend decides to slap a sign on his church: "closed on Sunday!" Insisting that Chico be the one to deliver next Sunday's sermon, Ed's proud mechanic shows himself to be a flashy speaker, his take on Noah's ark earning acclaim from every parishioner. It's not long before Chico's sermons leave him little time for the garage, so Ed puts on a drunk act to force Reverend Bemis to reclaim his flock.
