The need for weapons is still the main concern for Mainwaring, he's offered rifles, but would need to stand aside in favour of the gruff Colonel Square.
I thought this was very funny indeed, Geoffrey Lumsden was great as Square, but that scene with the horses was very funny. An unarmed pack of home guards instead of an unarmed band of LDV's.
Colonel Square makes his first appearance, he got off on the wrong foot with Mainwaring, and the pair would have an uncomfortable working relationship from here on.
The quality is truly visible in this first series. 8/10
