- J.R. Ewing: [regarding Pam] Well, everybody can see that she's cracking up. Slowly and surely. And who can blame her? I mean, she finds out that her daddy, Digger Barnes is no relation at all and her real father is a saddle tramp and a thief. And her mother's a whore! Now who could find it in their heart to hate, that poor little girl, huh? Could you?
- [Bobby punches J.R. in the gut. Jock comes between them before Bobby can land a second punch]
- Jock Ewing: Now you knock it off! Both of you! You watch that temper of yours, Bobby!
- [Bobby turns and leaves]
- Jock Ewing: And you, J.R., watch that mouth of yours!
- [last lines]
- [the news of the nationalized oil fields in SE Asia is on TV]
- Jock Ewing: [shouting] How much did we lose?
- J.R. Ewing: Well, Daddy, the way I look at it, we just made ourselves a killing.
- [Ellie turns to Jock after seeing Amanda and realizing just how sick she really is]
- Miss Ellie Ewing: Oh, my darling, I'm so sorry.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: You must be up to something real nasty, J.R. I haven't seen you look so nervous since you almost lost Southfork.
- Jock Ewing: [Miss Ellie urges Jock to go visit Amanda] Well, if I do go, I want you to come with me. I don't want anything in my life to be kept secret from you again. Ever.
- Jordan Lee: [running his fingers through Kristin's hair] J.R. is a true friend and a prince among oilmen. He just cut me in on the sweetest deal of my life.
- Kristin Shepard: [sits reading book as J.R. enters her apartment] Well, I never expected you.
- J.R. Ewing: Surprise is the spice of life, sugar.
- [snatches book away]
- J.R. Ewing: Come on.
- [heads to her bedroom]
- Kristin Shepard: Hey. Hey, wait a minute. You can't just walk in here and expect me to go right to bed with you. You've got to understand that I'm not just here for your convenience. I'm a person with rights, J.R.
- [clothes start flying past her face as J.R. starts getting ready for bed]
- Kristin Shepard: We made a deal, remember? And I am not going to go to bed with you again until you divorce Sue Ellen and marry me.
- [folds her arms]
- Kristin Shepard: Look, she is obviously a hopeless alcoholic. You're gonna have to commit her, and you know it. There's no reason for you not to keep your promise. You need a wife who knows you the way I do,
- [brushes back her hair with her hands]
- Kristin Shepard: who can help you the way I can.
- [with disgust:]
- Kristin Shepard: A wife who shares more than just your bed. J.R., you're not listening to me!
- J.R. Ewing: That's right.
- Kristin Shepard: I mean it! I'm serious! I'm not gonna go to bed with you again until we're married!
- [he pulls her into bed]
- Kristin Shepard: J.R.!
- J.R. Ewing: Kristin, shut up.
- Vaughn Leland: [as Kristin stands before mirror with necklace] Oh, here, let me help you with that.
- Kristin Shepard: [forcing herself to be polite] Thank you.
- Vaughn Leland: [old gentleman is every bit the predator as he stands behind her] I didn't know you lived here.
- Kristin Shepard: Only temporarily. The Ewings use this for the occasional business meeting.
- Vaughn Leland: I see.
- Kristin Shepard: What's this one about?
- Vaughn Leland: Well, I have no idea. J.R. just said that it was, uh...
- [fixes necklace]
- Vaughn Leland: highly... confidential. Here, let me look.
- [his hands on her shoulders as she faces him]
- Vaughn Leland: Very pretty.
- Kristin Shepard: Thank you. It was a present... from a friend.
- Vaughn Leland: A very good friend.
- J.R. Ewing: [entering] Well, Vaughn, glad you could come.
- Vaughn Leland: My pleasure, J.R.
- J.R. Ewing: [to Kristin] How about some coffee, darling?
- Kristin Shepard: There's some already made.
- J.R. Ewing: Well, would you fetch us a couple of cups?
- [as she slinks off, to Vaughn:]
- J.R. Ewing: If you can get your mind back on business, I've got a little proposition I'd like to talk to you about.
