One of the highest rated episodes, perhaps THE highest rated, is this one, THE LAW, with veteran actor Walter Pigeon as a very old judge losing his memory, and someone attempts to kill him in the cold open... he's in a car with Larry Hagman, the first of two future DALLAS stars here including Jared Martin (both would fight over Linda Gray's Sue Ellen Ewing)...
Anyhow it's difficult to follow any real plot-line or to get into things since there's little suspense, and mainly seems like a chance to adore the classic era actor, who looks like he's overdosed on chapstick...
Of course Burt Reynolds' title character knows the judge since the hook of this entire series is that he helps out his friends, that is, anyone involved in a murder, whether a suspect or victim or whatever else, he knew once.
