I guess if Leona Helmsley can leave her fortune to a dog than a wealthy eccentric can leave the Sugarbaker firm is hired to decorate for a client who dies before they can start the job. That means that they now work for her heir who turns out to be Mr. Bailey, an affectionate aging cat who lives in a big house all by itself and seems to have ghostly deliveries of real cream and the best food possible. Julia becomes concerned that the late woman will be declared senile and that the cat will lose its legal bequest, and they decide to do what they can to keep the woman's last wishes from being overturned in court.
You get to learn something about antiques in this episode with pharmacy owner William Griffis showing up and explaining everything on display, making it a lot more sensible than had they not known. This is a very cute episode where Suzanne steals several scenes even from the cat as she explains why she doesn't like cats yet is basically describing herself.
I liked when Designing Women would put the socially significant episodes on hold and do something like this which even with its silly premise does have a point that people's last wishes have every right to be fulfilled even if their legal team doesn't agree with them. Mr. Bailey himself is an adorable cat, quite affectionate and happy, and the ending does leave the viewer happy that Mr. Bailey will indeed continue to be happy.
