The Scout Leaders

Fred finds out Barney has become a Boy Scout leader so he joins too.

An OK episode. It begins with Fred having two tickets to the ball game but Barney says he has a previous engagement. Fred wants to snub him but likes the idea of becoming a scout master. Funniest scene is when Fred is woken up by one of the boy scout's bugle calls.

Few good laughs on a subpar episode.

The problem was the scouts just weren't funny. Having them onscreen a lot not adding anything hindered the comedy flow. Some good gags modestly sprinkled in the mostly flat episode. Dino the dinosaur having imbecile Fred fetch a stick crashing into a tree was funny. The troop meeting up with a friendly bear who turns mean throwing Fred off a cliff worked well. Hugo ripping a line drive at know-it-all Fred made me laugh. The camp area looked desolate and barren and not ideal for outdoor adventures. I always enjoy the black silhouettes. This time of the troop and guys marching. Always a treat to hear Hal Smith (Otis Campbell from "The Andy Griffith Show") as a character.
