I was fortunate to have discovered copies of the wonderful old 1950s TV anthology series "Four Star Playhouse" for free download at archive.org and I have watched every episode they've posted....but a few more are being added here and there. After seeing many, many dozen of the shows, I have come to admire both the very clever writing as well as the acting by the stars. However, tonight I saw something I did NOT think was possible...a bad episode. And, I am not talking a little bad...I am talking apocalyptically bad!
The story is set along the US/Canadian border. There's an announcement that a man on death row has escaped and in the area. Mr. Richard (Charles Boyer) knocks on the door of a lonely house...telling the woman of the house (Beverly Garland) that his car is stuck in the snow and he's stranded. She lets him inside her house...and a game of cat and mouse slowly is set into motion.
So why is this one so bad? Well, I think it was written by a chimp...and not even a talented one. Not once does the story seem the least bit possible, it's VERY talky and even stupid. I think you just have to see this one to see just how bad it is...if you dare!
