When Lindsey, Nick and Daniel go to get fake id's, Tobey calls Daniel, who's wearing a black stocking cap, 'McMurphy', as a reference to Jack Nicholson's character in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975). It's the same style of cap that Nicholson wore in the film.
Nick talks about wanting to go see a band called 'Feedback' shortly before the time of when this episode takes place, it was one of U2's former band names at the time when they started out.
When NBC moved the show to a new time and date during the 1999-2000 season, the production team made the 7th episode as a sort of "second pilot" to re-introduce the main characters. That also explains why this episode is relatively light and non-complex compared to the other 17 episodes from its first (and only) season, as they didn't want to scare off potential new fans who hadn't caught any of the first 6 episodes.
