- The janitor and wannabe a boxer of the Manny's Gym, Tommy Dunn, steals the pair of gloves that belonged to Killer Kelsey from the owner and trainer Manny King. He wears the gloves in the locker room and his shadow separates from him, meeting Manny in an alley and punching him to death while Tommy punches a bag. Manny's widow Sadie calls Jack and offers his collection to be sold by the Curious Goods since he bought the pair of gloves from Lewis. However, Jack, Micki and Ryan do not find the cursed gloves and go to the Gym to look for the gloves. Soon Micki takes a picture of Tommy's gloves and sees the name "Killer" printed on them. Meanwhile, Tommy proceeds his killings and the boxer Tony Terrific, with whom he had a beef, is murdered beaten to death. But how to retrieve the gloves from the dangerous boxer?—Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- At Manny's Gym, boxer Kid Cornelius is working out a bag under the coaching of the owner, Manny King. The janitor, Tommy Dunn, looks on, and one boxer sarcastically calls him "tough guy". Tommy goes into Manny's office and takes a pair of antique boxing gloves out of a box, and looks at them. Manny comes in and asks Tommy what he's doing, Tommy asks if he can borrow the gloves, saying that they belonged to Killer Kelsey. Manny asks if he's going to use them to beat up somebody who owes money, and Tommy insists that he did his time as an enforced and doesn't do it anymore. When Manny yanks the gloves back, Tommy says that Manny is just like the rest of them and won't give him a break. Manny tells Tommy that he's no boxer, and tells him to get out of his office and sweep the floor.
Later, Cornelius is heading out and sees Tommy working out with a rope. Tommy tells Cornelius that he's still hoping to get a shot at him, and Cornelius says that he wouldn't waste his time and Tommy is a lost cause. Tommy watches Cornelius talk to Manny before he goes, and later steals the gloves. He goes to the locker room and puts them on, and Manny yells to him from the door that he's going home. Manny tells Tommy to keep his nose clean and leaves, and Tommy throws air-punches with the gloves. His hands shake and he is pulled toward the wall. When the gloves touch the gloves that his shadow is "wearing", the shadow separates from the wall and walks out.
Manny walks down an alleyway on his way home, and the shadow comes up behind him. Tommy can sense what the shadow senses and whispers Manny's name. Manny hears the voice and sees the shadow, and recognizes it as Tommy's. The shadow cuts off Manny as he tries to walk out of the alley, then corners Manny in a dead-end.
In the gym, Tommy works out a bag. He punches it off its hinges, and in the alleyway the shadow beats Manny to death.
In the alleyway, the dying Manny writes "To" in his own blood on a nearby piece of cardboard.
The next day at the store, Micki takes a photo of Ryan with a flash bulb attachment. She says that she's making a photo diary for Lloyd. Jack gets a call from Manny's widow asking them to look at her dead husband's boxing memorabilia. She called them because Manny bought some stuff from Lewis, like the gloves. The gloves are listed in the manifest, and the original owner Kelsey killed an opponent in his ring. Jack was at the fight, and Kelsey hung up the gloves, "went strange", and never threw another punch.
The trio go to Manny's Gym and Micki takes photo. Ryan and Jack go through Manny's things and discover that the gloves aren't there. Manny's widow Sadie comes in and talks about how Manny wanted to start a boxing museum. Micki joins them and asks how Manny died, and Sadie says that he was beaten to death in a nearby alley. There were only one set of footprints at the scene of the crime, and they found the letters "To" written nearby.
Micki continues taking photos, including of boxer Tony Terrific. Tommy comes over and shoves Tony aside, and invites Micki to take photos of him. She isn't impressed, and Cornelius comes over and tells Tommy to get lost. Tommy tells him to mind his own business and Tommy invites him to say it to him in the ring. Unimpressed, Cornelius says that he won't waste his time with Tommy. After Tommy leaves, Micki thanks Cornelius and they introduce themselves. She checks his gloves, just like she checked Tony's, looking for the "Killer" stamped on them like were stamped on the cursed gloves. Cornelius says that Tommy has had more losses as a boxer than anyone in the city. Micki thanks Cornelius for his help and takes a photo of him as he walks away.
That night at his fight, outside, Tommy invites Tony to come in and see him fight. Tony dismisses Tommy, and Tony says that Tommy will never know what hit him. Tommy shrugs off his gibe and goes inside, laughing. Jack is nearby and overhears the exchange.
In the locker room, Tommy goes by himself and releases the shadow. Tommy then goes out in the ring and fights with his opponent. Outside, the shadow confronts Tony and beats him to death. Inside, Tommy beats his opponent with the power of the gloves, shrugging off his opponent's blows. Ryan, Micki, and Jack are there and look on as Tommy wins. Micki snaps a photo of Tommy's gloves and sees the "Killer" stamped on them. She tells Ryan and Jack that Tommy is wearing the gloves, and Jack figures that Manny was trying to leave Tommy's name in his blood.
A man runs in and yells that Tony is dead, beaten to death and left on the hood of a car. Tommy has left the ring, and Ryan goes to check Tommy's locker for the gloves. Ryan breaks into the locket and finds a medical report on Tommy. Cornelius comes over and asks Ryan if he's looking for something. Ryan claims that he gave his wallet to Tommy to hold, but Cornelius doesn't believe him and finds Ryan's wallet in his back pocket. The boxer gives Ryan the wallet and tells him to get out.
The trio go to the apartment building where Tommy lives. Micki gets an idea and goes to a nearby pay phone. She calls Tommy and suggests they go for coffee. Tommy agrees and leaves, and Ryan and Jack break into Tommy's apartment while Micki goes to the nearby diner where she agreed to meet Tommy. She picks at her food to stall, and Tommy invites her back to his place for a "nightcap". Micki turns on the charm, and Tommy says that he can't lose at anything. She tries to beg off, saying she has to work, but Tommy figures she's playing him as a sucker and grabs her arm. Tommy tosses down money for the tab and goes back to his apartment.
Micki goes to the phone booth and calls Tommy's apartment. Ryan and Jack don't pick the phone up, but they hear Tommy come in and hide. Tommy realizes someone has been searching his place and spots them, and figures that Micki was trying to distract him. He grabs the gloves from a hidden hole in the wall, knocks Ryan down, and shoves Jack out of the apartment.
In the alleyway near Micki, the shadow appears.
Tommy advances on Ryan and throws a punch at him, and Ryan ducks. Meanwhile, Micki uses her flash attachment on the shadow. It's blinded, and so is Tommy. The attachment recharges, and Ryan tries to grab the gloves from Tommy. He fails and runs out, and on the street below the shadow fades away. Micki joins Jack and Ryan as they come out, and she says that she has to get the film from her camera developed.
Back at the store, Micki tells Jack what she saw. Ryan gets the photos developed and when the trio go over them, the shadow isn't there. Jack finds a shot of it and Micki figures that it was when the flash didn't work. The older man suggests that when Tommy wears the gloves, his shadow goes after his victims. His dark side is unleashed by the gloves, and they figure that someone else will be murdered the next time Tommy goes into the ring.
Tommy goes to the gym and everyone congratulates him. He challenged Cornelius to a fight, but Cornelius refuses. Meanwhile, the trio arrive and Jack figures Tommy won't let the gloves out of his sight. Cornelius hears them talking about how Tommy killed Manny and Tony, and he confronts Tommy and punches him in the face. He tells Tommy that he'll fight them that night, and Tommy promises that he'll be there with his gloves on. The trio overhear his confrontation and confront him, and Micki tells Cornelius that he can't fight Tommy but can't explain why. Cornelius says that he agrees with them that Tommy killed Manny, and Manny was like a father to him. Once Cornelius leaves, Jack figures they have to make sure no one gets killed.
That night, everyone gathers for the fight. The trio are in the audience, and Jack tells Ryan to wait for his opportunity. He then goes into the locker room and tells Tommy that he knows about the gloves. Jack claims that he saw Tommy steal the gloves, and threatens to go to the cops. He says that Tommy gets to keep the gloves while Jack gets 70% of Tommy's winnings. Smirking, Tommy agrees and tells him to wait for him out in the parking lot.
Jack goes out to the parking lot where Micki is waiting, and says that they have to use Tommy's rage against him. Inside, Tommy unleashes the shadow then goes to the ring. Jack comes in and taunts Tommy, and Tommy and Cornelius fight.
Jack goes outside and the shadow comes after him.
Tommy rallies and starts beating Cornelius.
Micki uses a bright flashlight on the shadow. Inside, Tommy is blinded and Cornelius beats him. Outside, the shadow disappears in the bright light and inside, Cornelius beats Tommy. The shadow comes after Micki and Jack, and the flashlight battery fades. It knocks the light out of her hand, and Jack taunts the shadow over to him. Micki pulls the car over and blinds the shadow with the headlights, and Cornelius finishes off Tommy. Ryan jumps into the ring and grabs the gloves from Tommy, while everyone cheers Cornelius.
Back at the store, Ryan puts the gloves in the vault. Micki says that what they did wasn't enough, and Tommy will get away with killing two people. Ryan points out that Tommy has a perfect alibi, and Micki goes to her bedroom and tries to sleep. Ryan comes to her door and asks if she's all right. She says that she is and turns down his offer of cocoa.
Tommy breaks into Micki's room and puts a knife to her face. He demands his gloves, then takes her with them to go get them. Ryan hears them and calls to Micki, going out. Micki breaks free of Tommy, and Tommy threatens Ryan with his knife. He grabs Micki and tells Ryan to get the gloves or he'll cut her. Jack comes in and begs Tommy not to hurt Micki. Ryan goes to get the gloves, and Jack tries to move in on Tommy but Tommy spots him and invites him to try it.
When Tommy prepares to stab Micki anyway, she yells that he's hurting him, breaking his concentration. Jack points out that Tommy has no alibi, but nobody can prove anything up to now and he's outsmarted everyone. If Tommy kills them, the authorities will know. Tommy figures that he's a nobody without the gloves, and figures the trio stepped on him just like everyone else.
Ryan returns with one of the gloves, his other hand behind his back. Tommy realizes that there's only one glove and demands the other one, and Ryan hits Jack with his other glove-clad hand. Ryan's shadow appears and beats Tommy, while Ryan beats Jack. Micki tries to pull the glove off of Ryan's hand, and he gives it up. His cousin goes to Jack, and Ryan insists that he had to put on the glove to save Micki. Jack recovers and tells Ryan that it was the stupidest thing he's ever done, and Micki goes to call an ambulance for Tommy. Meanwhile, Jack looks at the unconscious Tommy and says that sometimes a person brings justice on themselves.
The next day, Cornelius brings Tommy things to the shelf. The commission confirmed that Cornelius' fight had nothing to do with Tommy being hurt, and Tommy had scar tissue on the brain from all the head shots he took in the past. Cornelius says that it felt like he would be doing something for Manny when he beat Tommy, but Manny would have had nothing to do with it. Micki says that Tommy just came over and started shouting, then collapsed. Cornelius says that he's going to run Manny's Gym for Sadie and leaves. Jack tells Ryan that he holds Ryan responsible for what happened to him, and half-jokingly promises revenge.
