- A dentist uses a cursed electric chair to seek revenge against those who wronged him.
- An innocent man, Eli Pittman is convicted of murder and ten years later seeks revenge on the people he holds responsible for his false conviction. Using the cursed electric chair that was used in the failed execution, he gains electrical powers and hunts down his victims.—Gislef
- In 1978, Eli Pittman is sentenced to death penalty in an electric chair. He claims that he is innocent, but the warden tells him that his stay has been denied. However, the execution fails twice, and Eli is sent to a mental institution for examination. Ten years later, Eli is working as a dentist at the Haverstock Reform School with the electric chair disguised as a dentist chair. Meanwhile, Jack and Ryan go to the prison to know the whereabouts of the electric chair. The warden tells them that the chair was sold to Lewis and that Eli was innocent in the end. Eli executes a boy at Haverstock and absorbs the electricity generated in the process. He looks for DA Daniial Kendricks, who was responsible for his case, and electrocutes him in the beginning of his crime spree to revenge those who sentenced him to death.—Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- Evanclaw Penitentiary, 1978:
Convicted prisoner Eli Pittman is led from his cell to the execution chamber. The electric chair is waiting for him, and the men who put Eli there are waiting along with Warden Hobbs. Eli insists that his conviction was a mistake, but is ignored. Hobbs gets a call, and is told by the governor that Eli won't be getting a reprieve. The warden tells Eli that his stay has been denied, and Eli says that he's innocent.
When the clock strikes midnight, Eli is electrocuted. The doctor examines Eli and says that he's not dead. They electrocute Eli again, and the doctor confirms that Eli is dead. As the guards take Eli's body away on a gurney, Eli comes back to life and grabs one of the guards' wrists. Hobbs says that they can't execute a man twice, and Eli is taken to Temple Hills Mental Hospital for examination.
The Present
Ryan is in his room listening to music and playing with a lightning lamp. Micki comes in and turns down the volume, then asks Ryan what he's doing. Ryan says that he's trying to make his lamp sensitive to music. Jack comes in and says that one of the query letters they sent out to Lewis' old customers came back stamped with no forwarding address. He figures the purchaser didn't want to be followed and used an alias of a fake doctor, Charles Lindheim. Lewis sold the purchaser an electric chair.
At the Haverstock Reform School, Eli is working as the staff dentist, with the electric chair disguised as his dentist chair. He's using nitrous oxide on his patient, Melissa Duvall. Melissa enjoys the muzak, and Eli says that he studied dentistry back in the 70s but got sidetracked. The teenager leaves, and Mr. Downing comes in and says that they all feel lucky to have Eli at Haverstock for the last year. Eli says the kids give him the kind of stimulation he needs, and Downing tells Eli that the school is closing down in two weeks because of a lack of funding. Once Downing leaves, Eli remembers the night of his execution.
Ryan and Jack go to the prison, posing as writers about a book on infamous antiques, and talk with Hobbs. He mentions how Eli was the only prisoner to survive execution, and says that Eli was convicted of murdering his girlfriend. Hobbs says that the chair was sold to Lewis after the execution failed, and another man confessed to the girlfriend's murder. The warden excuses himself to go home for dinner.
Eli has another teenager in the chair. He gives her gas and talks about how he was an orphan as well. Eli says that the kids give him the juice he needs to go on, grabs the boy by the shoulder, and throws the switch on the chair. The boy dies screaming, his body transformed into electricity. Eli then gets into the chair and absorbs the electricity into himself.
That night, one of the men from the execution--district attorney Daniial Kendricks--is working in his office. Eli comes in and remembers the younger Kendricks in the execution chamber, and imagines all of the men laughing at him. Kendricks sees Eli, who introduces himself as Lindheim and reminds Kendricks that they spoke on the phone earlier. The prosecutor doesn't recognize Eli from '78 and invites him in, and says that he wants to discuss Eli's fake case that Eli described over the phone. Eli claims that he has proof an innocent man was convicted of murder, and Kendricks wonders if they've met before.
Eli says who he is, and Kendricks insists that the evidence was conclusive. He suggests that Eli should go, and Eli removes one of his rubber gloves and touches the doorknob that Kendricks is touching to open the door out. Eli electrocutes Kendricks and then leaves.
The next day at Curious Goods, Ryan and Micki return with Xeroxes of everything they found on Eli. Jack has confirmed Eli was discharged from the hospital eight months after the failed execution, and nobody knows where Eli is now. Going over the clippings, Jack finds a reference to Kendrick and notes that it was on the news that Kendricks was electrocuted the previous night.
Eli crosses out Kendricks in a photo of the men who served at his trial. He then calls Judge Joseph Avery, posing as a courier deliveryman, and determines when Avery will be home. Once Eli gets the time, he takes out his file on Melissa.
The trio go through the clippings and discover Eli was a dental student. Jack realizes that the Lindheim, who bought the chair from Lewis is a dentist, and figures Eli is using "Lindheim" as an alias. He goes to the dental association to get information on Eli.
Melissa is going to her room, and Eli arrives and says that she had an appointment with him so he could check the crown he cemented on her earlier in the week.
Jack confirms that Eli is Lindheim and figures that they next they need to warn all of the execution witnesses.
Eli puts Melissa into the chair and gasses her, and she has him turn up the gas. Meanwhile, Downing looks for Melissa and doesn't find her in her room. In the office, Melissa tells Eli that he's a nice guy. He uses the chair on her, and in the hallway outside, the lights flicker and Downing notices. Meanwhile, Eli kills Melissa and hides her clothing. Downing comes in and asks if he's seen Melissa, and Eli feigns ignorance. Once Downing leaves, Eli uses the chair to absorb Melissa's energy.
Avery returns home, unaware that Eli is watching him from down the street. Ryan and Micki arrive outside, and Ryan confirms that he talked to Avery earlier to make sure he was going to be home. Meanwhile, Eli calls to Avery and asks him what the judicial form of punishment would be for someone wrongfully executing an innocent men. Avery recognizes Eli, and Eli touches the metal handrail that Avery is holding and shocked the judge to death.
Ryan and Micki see Eli from the down the street, and he sees them. As they head back to the car, Ryan trips and falls into water on the curb. Eli touches the water and Ryan gets out of it just in time. The cousins get into their car but Ryan dropped the keys when he fell. Ryan has Micki lock the doors and not to touch anything. Eli grabs the hood ornament but the electricity grounds out on the car without harming the cousins. The dentist exhausts his charge and runs off, and Ryan goes to get the keys.
Back at the shop, Ryan tells Jack what happened. Ryan didn't get a good look at Eli, and Micki confirms that everyone in the photos has died of "accidental" electrocutions. They haven't been able to identify one man in the photo and a couple of the guards, and Jack has Ryan check with Hobbs to get their names. Jack has confirmed from the dental association records that Eli is at Haverstock, and he's made arrangements for him and Micki to pay Haverstock a visit as antique buyers.
Jack and Micki put on rubber boots and go to Haverstock, meeting with Downing. Downing explains that the school is closing down, and says that they've lost three kids in the last month. Eli is listening from his office. Downing shows Jack and Micki the antiques in the school, and Jack brings up Eli. The administrator confirms that Eli is there, and is called away to take a call. It's Eli, calling Downing to his office. He then takes out a syringe and contemplates it.
Ryan meets with Hobbs at the prison, and asks about the three unidentified men. Hobbs confirms that the man is Patrick Stridel, the jury foreman at Eli's trial. The warden says that he has information about Stridel in his files at home, and Ryan is welcome to come over and go through them. Ryan agrees, once he has a chance to call Jack and tell him what he's found.
Micki and Jack find Eli's office from the building directory, and head there.
When Downing enters Eli's office, Eli injects him with the syringe, which contains a sedative. Eli puts Downing into the chair and asks what he told Micki and Jack. Downing doesn't understand, and Eli tortures him with a dental drill and demands answers. The director says that they're antique dealers, and Eli continues torturing him. Once he's done, Eli apologizes to Downing, saying he had to be sure no one suspects. He then drains Downing into the chair and absorbs the energy.
Micki and Jack find the office as the lights flicker. They don rubber gloves and go in, and discover Eli has gone out the back. Jack finds the electric chair, and Micki finds Downing's discarded clothing. Using the electricity in the chair, Jack magnetizes a syringe needle so they can track the electrical charge in Eli. Jack figures that the chair isn't going anywhere, and Eli still has someone to kill.
Sticking the needle into a cork and putting the cork in a cup of water, Micki and Jack use the makeshift compass to track Eli. They come to a basement hallway, and hear the electricity in Eli sparking as he hides up ahead. Micki and Jack continue on and come to a transformer, and figure that's the source of the sound they heard. Eli is behind them, and advances on them while removing one of his rubber gloves. Rather than attack them, Eli runs off.
Jack and Micki take the chair back to the store and put in the vault. Micki figures Eli is using the charge for his next victim. Ryan arrives and confirms that the foreman died ten years ago of cancer. Jack explains that Eli was kidding the supposed escapees from Haverstock, and Micki figures Eli still has one victim left. She realizes that Hobbs is the last victim. Ryan calls Hobbs' phone, but all the lines are down because of the storm outside. They head to Hobbs's' house for Ryan's 6:00 dinner appointment.
Hobbs arrive at his house and goes inside, and Eli watches from across the street. Hobbs' wife Peggy greets her husband, and he goes up to his study.
As the trio drive to Hobbs' house, Jack figures that Eli was grounded out earlier when he grabbed the hood ornament. The grounding weakened Eli, and they need to find a way to make that happen again.
Eli rings the doorbell, and Peggy answers the door and assumes Eli is Ryan. She's surprised that Eli is younger than Hobbs described Ryan, and Eli goes up to the study saying he wants to "surprise" Hobbs.
The trio arrive outside.
Hobbs comes out of his study and sees Eli, and Eli imagines all of the execution witnesses laughing at him. The warden recognizes Eli.
The trio arrive at the house and ring the doorbell. Ryan says who he is, and Peggy says that Eli is already inside. Jack has Micki take Peggy to get some help, and Ryan get the jumper cables from the car and attack one of them to any metal in the house that will ground Eli.
Jack goes to the stairs and yells at Hobbs to get away from Eli. Hobbs ducks back into his study, and Eli tries to break down the door. Jack tells Eli that he's a witness, but Eli figures the police won't believe Jack. Ryan arrives with the jumper cables, and Jack tells Eli that they have the chair and it's all over. While Ryan attaches one cable to a ground, Jack advances on Eli. When Eli reaches for Jack, Jack clips the other jumper cable on Eli's hand. Eli "shorts out" and collapses into a nearby chair, burned to a crisp.
The next day at the store, Micki finds Ryan and Jack working on the lightning lamp. Jack finishes the lamp and has Micki put her hand on the globe. It works and her hair stands out from the static electricity, much to Ryan and Jack's amusement.
