Someone gets taken for a ride, and it's not mother!

Warning: Spoilers
The legendary Ethel Barrymore is having a grand old time in this comic episode of the General Electric Theater, playing the den mother of a group of wildcatters, brought in by Ronald Reagan to provide some apple pie and nightly tea, except in her case, there's something more in her tea than lemon and sugar. Coming from one of the finest families in the area, this delightful old bird obviously has a past beyond being a society matriarch with a past, and being an expert at poker as well as a fan of spirited beverages, she's an absolute delight from start to finish. Among the men in the group are Dabbs Greer from "Little House on the Prairie" and "The Green Mile" and Old Uncle Joe, Edgar Buchanan from "Petticoat Junction". Reagan's about to get rid of her when her "daughter", Joyce Holden, shows up, asking him for pity on Barrymore. This is definitely an episode that would have been great as a weekly series, although Barrymore's Scottish accent (perhaps one of her character's tricks) goes in and out. Reagan may have ended up being president, but here, Barrymore is definitely first lady.
