Jonathan (Harlen Carraher) and Candace (Kellie Flanagan) find an antique clock hidden in the attic that Mrs. Muir (Hope Lange) admires and hangs on the wall. She calls for permission to repair it from Claymore (Charles Nelson Reilly) who excitedly drives to Gull Cottage to tell her that the clock has a curse on it. It was a wedding present for his great- grandfather Norbert L. Gregg who left the bride at the church but took the clock. The scorned put a curse on the clock that once it's wound, at midnight that day the last Gregg will die. Unknowingly, the kids have started it, putting Claymore on the clock. Mrs. Muir simply stops it, but again unknowingly, the kids start it back, and now Claymore is convinced by the Captain (Edward Mulhare) that it can't be stopped. The Captain shows Claymore what his funeral would be like, ala "A Christmas Carol". How will this affect Claymore?
