Amusing

Warning: Spoilers
Not a classic episode but decent.

Annoying habits by the four have them all snapping at each of and the amount of time they have spent together on the trip to Hollywood. This seems like a bit of a stretch to me considering the four always spent a lot of time together .

Instead of all four going to a planned trip to Palm Springs together Lucy and Ethel go with Little Ricky and Lucy's mother. But the weather is bad and they all start missing each other.

Lucy " I miss Ricky " Ethel "I can top that I miss Fred"

Ricky gets a call to meet Dory Sharey in Palm Springs giving him and Fred just the excuse they need.

They ask Rock Hudson to give the girls a sad story of a similar situation . The women are nervous seeing Rock but excited Ethel " would you care for a piece of rock Mr. Candy?" Once Rock softens them up Ricky and Fred appear. Turns out Lucy was the call that got them there .

Rock is good natured about the groups craziness as Lucy said they are all crazy! Rock actually gets by unscathed by Lucy .

Rock Hudson tells a tale about annoying little personal habits and marriage
LGBen28 May 2007
After picking at each other about their annoying personal habits, Lucy, Ricky, Ethel and Fred realize they're bickering because of spending too much time together. Having previously planned to go for a weekend in Palm Springs with their husbands, Lucy and Ethel decide just they will go, leaving Ricky and Fred in Hollywood. By the pool in Palm Springs Lucy and Ethel encounter Rock Hudson.

I think the "Hollywood" and "Connecticut" episodes of I Love Lucy are the best, and this is another humorous "Hollywood" episode with a movie star cameo. But it doesn't live up to the potential that having a star of Rock Hudson's magnitude presents; plus, it fails to feature the physical comedy that made Lucille Ball's Lucy Ricardo famous. It is not nearly as funny as the episodes with cameos by William Holden ("L.A. At Last"), Richard Widmark ("The Tour"), Cornel Wilde ("The Star Upstairs"), John Wayne ("Lucy and John Wayne"), or Harpo Marx ("Lucy and Harpo Marx").

one of the best

This episode is one of the best of the I Love Lucy series because it is so well written and demonstrates just how talented the team of Oppenheimer, Davis, and Carroll were in understanding the dynamics of four neighbors and friends that are universal and eternal. It's still funny and relevant today. Timeless comedy. Secondly, it shows how well the four lead performers acted together. If you want to see Lucy, Ricky, Fred, and Ethel at their funniest together, this is the one to watch. The actors worked brilliantly as a comedic team, and this showcases that perfectly, particularly just how wonderful Ball and the great Vivian Vance played off each other. The icing on the cake is Rock Hudson showing up and gallantly playing straight man to Lucy and Ethel with endearing charm. A must-see for fans of this show and for anyone who appreciates great comedic performances. These were talented people (actors and writers) at their best.
