The Casino in which Spike and Jet meet Faye is called "The Spiders From Mars", in reference to the famous David Bowie album "Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars" (1971).
The sound effect of Faye's wristband used to call her ship is the same communications signal used in Space: 1999 (1975).
First appearance of Faye Valentine.
At the end of "Stray Dog Strut", Wendee Lee gives a voice over prelude to this episode. During this voice over you can hear a man's voice saying "I don't know just get a tea or something." It is easy to miss if you're listening to it over speakers (due to the loud music and Wendee Lee's voice) but if you're wearing a headset/headphones it can be heard very distinctly.
The title "Honky Tonk Women" is a reference to the Rolling Stones song of the same name.
