No love for the Marshalls
bkoganbing25 January 2013
Robert Alda guest stars in this Kojak episode which starts off as the murder of an out of town accountant from Cleveland who gets sapped after being led up to an SRO hotel by a working girl that's hotspot for working girls working their trade.

The deceased was doing an audit on the garment business that Robert Alda was the head of. Alda is a guy who is living well, but also apparently knows nothing about the business he's in. Later on another accountant working the same audit is kidnapped and later released and now clams up when Telly Savalas wants information.

Even Dan Frazer has his curiosity aroused with this one and does some background checking of his own. Usually Captain McNeill just looks worried and gives Kojak his head, but Frazer gets deep in this story.

Alda's character of Adrian Marshall is not what it seems nor is the deceased a boy scout either. A very fascinating Kojak episode.

Solid, Film-Noir-Like Story
ccthemovieman-17 May 2012
Warning: Spoilers
The opening to this episode has a spooky film-noir feel to it. It appears that a man, although acting reluctant, is headed up a long stairway in a dingy part of town for a rendezvous with this hooker-like blonde. Seconds after entering the room, a guy in back of the room runs over and clubs the "client" over the head and killing him.

This turns out to be nothing like it looks. The man, an accountant of sorts, was just trying to meet someone and give him the lowdown on a business scandal that he uncovered. Apparently, someone knew about the numbers guy and bumped him off before he could speak.

Later, we get a bizarre midday mid-city kidnapping of a guy who had just talked to Kojak about this case. Later, he reappears as is too scared to talk.

Who's behind all of this and why? Well, we get a pretty good idea fairly early on but it is up to Kojak and his crew to put all the pieces together. This is a well-written episode and nicely done.
