While investigating the death of a homeless man, the police believe that someone struck him with a car and wouldn't help him. But when the defendant's lawyer asks for an autopsy which was not initially performed because the man's family wouldn't let them, they discover that the defendant hitting him with a car was not what caused his death but from being struck earlier. So the police investigate again and learn that the victim had earlier gotten into a fight with another homeless man over food. And his lawyer builds a defense around how hard life is for the homeless.
