The police answer a call that a child is dying and by the time Detectives Cerella and Logan get involved the young girl, Dinah Driscoll, has just died in the Emergency Room. Her mother Nancy Driscoll had refused ER physicians the authority to treat her. She and her husband Ted are members of the Church of All Saints, a religious sect that refuses all medical treatment in favor of spiritual healing through prayer. The investigation reveals that they had lost another child some years before and ADA Stone decides to prosecute them for manslaughter and child endangerment. It's a challenging case however, raising issues of religious rights and the separation of Church and State.
