Sam Waterston: Executive ADA Jack McCoy
Quotes
-
Executive A.D.A. Jack McCoy : Do you know what a Pyrrhic victory is, Mr Jackson?
Lonnie Jackson : I'm not really sure.
Executive A.D.A. Jack McCoy : That's when you win but you really lose. Like this hearing: if I win, I get to say that you're competent, in which case, I get to go into another courtroom and try to prove that you did something I know you did, but at the same time I can't prove.
Lonnie Jackson : So why don't we just call it a day?
Executive A.D.A. Jack McCoy : It's what they call going through the motions, it's what I get paid for. So will you bear with me?
Lonnie Jackson : Sure.
-
Dr. Elizabeth Olivet : Sure, he's forgetful.
Executive A.D.A. Jack McCoy : So am I.
Dr. Elizabeth Olivet : Yeah, but you're not worried about being put away for forgetting your phone number.
Executive A.D.A. Jack McCoy : I'm sure nobody was gonna do that.
Dr. Elizabeth Olivet : Yeah, I'm sure you're right. But this is more than just forgetting his phone number or his name. He lost his house of fifty years.
Executive A.D.A. Jack McCoy : No, it was stolen from him by some computer con artist.
Dr. Elizabeth Olivet : Yeah, you see it like that. But to Lonnie Jackson, he sees it as a consequence of getting old, and that scares the hell out of him, Jack.
Executive A.D.A. Jack McCoy : Is he competent enough to help his attorney?
Dr. Elizabeth Olivet : [snickering] Absolutely. And I'm looking forward to watching Shambala Green try to prove otherwise.
