- A.D.A. Abbie Carmichael: Maletkov's gotta be making a quarter of a million a month by massaging sore muscles.
- Jack McCoy: Ain't America grand?
- A.D.A. Abbie Carmichael: You've gotta hand it to him though. He's been here six years, he's working the system like a slot machine. I'm still trying to figure out alternate side of the street parking.
- Detective Rey Curtis: [Arresting Kira outside his motel room] We're the Jacksons: I'm Jermaine, this is Tito. Now shut up!
- A.D.A. Toni Ricci: [translating Russian tattoos found on dead man's feet] "When you skin your customer, leave some skin to grow so you can skin them again."
- Detective Lennie Briscoe: Motto of the plumber's union?
- A.D.A. Toni Ricci: Actually, Nikita Khrushchev, 1961.
- Georgy Maletkov: [rejecting McCoy's offer of a plea bargain] America's like a big baby. I'm taking candy out of your hand - out of your mouth! So save your deals for the pipe-heads in Harlem... I have appointment to play chess, OK?
- Mrs. Sofia Dementev: My husband isn't afraid. I'm not afraid. We're not murderers. You can't put us in prison forever.
- A.D.A. Abbie Carmichael: You could lose your business.
- Mrs. Sofia Dementev: So we make another business. It's not first time.
- A.D.A. Abbie Carmichael: Really? Big demand for electricians in Moscow?
- Mrs. Sofia Dementev: What do you mean, "Moscow?"
- A.D.A. Abbie Carmichael: Immigration Reform Act of 1996. We'll go over your books, your tax returns. If we find one decimal point out of place, you're on a plane back to the cheese lines in Red Square.
- Mrs. Sofia Dementev: But we have a green card.
- A.D.A. Abbie Carmichael: I'm sure you'll get a lot of rubles for it on the black market.
- Officer Jasper: [pulls over gray Towncar at night] Can you get out of the car, sir?
- [driver gets out]
- Officer Jasper: Can I see you license and vehicle registration?
- Driver: [Russian accent] What's the problem?
- Officer Jasper: Our computer's telling us that your plates belong to a white Toyota Celica.
- Driver: [dismissively] Computers!
- [tosses cigarette butt]
- Officer Jasper: I don't like them either, sir.
- [Officer Diego pops trunk of the Towncar]
- Officer Jasper: Where in Connecticut do you live?
- Driver: Brooklyn.
- Officer Diego: [checking trunk, shouting urgently] Frank!
- [Driver grabs gun]
- Officer Diego: Frank, get out of the way!
- [officers exchange gunfire with driver]
- Driver: Aaaaaagh!
- [dies]
- Officer Diego: You OK, Frank?
- Officer Jasper: Yeah.
- [both approach body of driver with guns drawn]
- Officer Jasper: Jeez Louise!
- Lt. Anita Van Buren: [referring to the dead shooter] Well, if he emigrated here, maybe INS has him; they can ID him off his right ear.
- Detective Lennie Briscoe: You're kidding!
- Lt. Anita Van Buren: Oh, you didn't know? Every ear's unique, like snowflakes.
- Detective Rey Curtis: No wonder Evander was so upset!
- Detective Lennie Briscoe: [questioning 10-year old witness] Billy, we just want to ask you a few questions about what happened Tuesday.
- Detective Rey Curtis: [Billy hugs mother; whispering to Briscoe] He saw it go down, Lennie! He saw it all!
- Jack McCoy: Emil, we're facing a motion to dismiss, our witnesses won't cooperate. This boy is our last, best hope. Couldn't you treat him?
- Dr. Emil Skoda: I'm not a child psychologist. I don't have the expertise. I'm sorry it screws up your case, but...
- A.D.A. Abbie Carmichael: If it was your kid, who would you get?
- Dr. Emil Skoda: Well, since she's gone back to teaching, Liz Olivet. Specializes in kids with crime-related trauma.
- Dr. Elizabeth Rodgers: The hands were cut to the bone, then snapped off at the wrist.
- Detective Lennie Briscoe: That must've hurt.
- Dr. Elizabeth Rodgers: Well, it was postmortem.
- Detective Lennie Briscoe: Still...
- Jack McCoy: I want him off the case, Your Honor! He endangered witnesses, he interfered with the prosecution...
- Nick Margolis: If Mr. McCoy had evidence to go with his huffing and puffing, I'd be in handcuffs right now.
- A.D.A. Abbie Carmichael: We can meet the standard of proof required to remove a corrupt attorney. It's all there in the moving papers.
- Judge Harrison Taylor: Yes. Fascinating reading.
- Nick Margolis: Your Honor...
- Judge Harrison Taylor: You're out, Mr. Margolis. There's only one inference to be drawn from the fact that the VDF got into the wrong hands.
- Nick Margolis: Well, that's unwarranted. I'm filing an appeal.
- Judge Harrison Taylor: Yes, and in the meantime, you're still out.
- Nick Margolis: All right. I want two days to get new counsel for my clients.
- Jack McCoy: And replace Bonnie with Clyde? His entire firm should be barred.
- Nick Margolis: My clients have the right to choose their counsel.
- Jack McCoy: They have the right *to* counsel. Period. Anything beyond that is a privilege.
- Dr. Elizabeth Olivet: It's called omen formation. These kids want to have a sense of control over the terrible event they witnessed, so they come to believe that they dreamed it before it happened.
- A.D.A. Abbie Carmichael: Then they feel guilty because they didn't do anything to stop it.
- A.D.A. Toni Ricci: Poor kid gets it coming and going.
- Jack McCoy: Would he recognize the killers?
- Dr. Elizabeth Olivet: He said he could.
- A.D.A. Abbie Carmichael: Do you think it's healthy putting him through the witness grinder?
- Dr. Elizabeth Olivet: He told me he wants to help the police punish the bad guys. It might give him closure.
