Beaver is selling raffle tickets in support of a hospital building foundation. Beaver is also enlisting those around him - Ward, June and Wally - to sell the tickets for him. Beaver's volunteer effort does have an ulterior motive as the seller's commission is getting a ticket himself for every ten he sells. Beaver hopes that he will actually win one of the big prizes, like the trip for two to Hawaii, the mink coat or the sports car. Eddie convinces Beaver that even if he does win one of the big prizes, his parents would probably use it themselves instead of letting him keep it. That theory is put to the test when Beaver actually wins the third prize of a $3,500 sports car. As all - including Beaver - really do realize that he has no practical use for a sports car, Ward does eventually tell Beaver that he will sell the car and place the money in Beaver's bank account for his college education. Beaver is angry about the the situation and takes it out on Ward by giving him the silent treatment. Will Beaver ever forgive his father, even though he knows what his father did was for his own good?
