Tom Chambers (Jack Ging) has a gift for his psychiatrist, a set of arrows. But they quarrel and the doctor ends up with an arrow in his back. Chambers identifies Maris as the killer, but it's a ploy to involve Maris in the case--Chambers needs a lawyer. Maris talks to Chambers' wife Betty (Connie Hines) and business partner Duggan (James Best). Both are expert archers and it occurs to Maris that the doctor died with his back to an open window. A window washer, Grimes (Vince Barnett), saw something that would have explained the murder, if Grimes hadn't fallen from a great height. A short, elderly, nearsighted tough guy called Hardnose (George E. Stone) helps Maris find a person who may have overheard Grimes offer information to Maris, but that trail leads back to Chambers' wife and partner. So Maris pays another call on Duggan, seeking information about Betty. When Betty interrupts them, Maris realizes that he is standing in the office of an archery range with at least one arrow-slinging killer. The presence of an extension phone tells him who the killer is.
