Former Confederate Colonel McCauley has homesteaded a farm with his young grandson Jeb and his orderly Sarge. But somebody is trying to drive them off their claim. But the Colonel won't be driven, even when three hooded men invade their house and tell them to get off. The Ranger and Tonto arrive the following day and are just in time to save Jeb from being kidnapped by two henchmen. Jeb tells them about his play gold mine, but our two heroes quickly find out that there is real gold, a lot of it, in Jeb's gold mine. A prosperous farmer, Jim Grady, offers to buy the homestead, but The Ranger stops him just before the deal is signed. Grady knows about the gold and has been behind all the trouble. He sends his two hooded henchmen to kill the Colonel. But The Ranger and Tonto capture them. It will take a dangerous trap involving The Ranger wearing a hood over his mask to catch Grady. But Grady may be too smart to fall into the trap. Familiar western supporting players Lane Bradford and Robert Bray do a fine job playing Grady's henchmen.
