- Mike, with Nikki as his driver, is at New Orleans International Airport awaiting the arrival from Miami of Ingrid's sister, Hannah Aalborg, who Mike has never met, although he admits she sounds much like his deceased wife which Nikki hopes only brings up good memories for him. Accompanying Hannah is her husband, Sven Aalborg, a businessman making a twenty minute layover before boarding another flight to San Francisco. Immediately upon the four meeting in the arrivals lounge, Sven is shot, critically wounding him, the unknown shooter using a silencer. Mike initially believes the bullet was meant for him, but he learns straight from Sven, in a moment of lucidity, that he himself was the intended target, he not able to divulge any information beyond that. As Sven remains in hospital, Hannah calls his New York based business associate, John Lang, to come to New Orleans to take care of business during Sven's incapacitation. Mike, Nikki and Duke try to use sense memory to piece together issues related to the shooting and the lead-up to the shooting. What they uncover can only be verified as important if they learn what Sven can't or won't tell them, in addition to about the Aalborgs' movements the few days before arriving in New Orleans.—Huggo
