You're My Huckleberry, Finn

In this episode we meet Finn. With the loss of Molone (who is even off the credits by now) and the continuing vanishment of Veronica, they needed a fresh injection of cast.

Finn is a survivor from the twenty-first century the castaways happen up on when they're transported to the future when Challenger (a blending of the Professor and the Sipper) tries beaming them to London.

With all their talk about coincidence around this time and Veronica's soon-to-be importance as protector of the plateau, it's likely in a fourth season we'd have learned Veronica is Finn's great-great grandmother. They're both blonde fighting machines. Unfortunately, the series died before a fourth season came to fruition so we'll never know.

Anyway, Finn fills in until Veronica's return. She's a waifish warrior. So waifish she makes Veronica look huge.

This episode is most unpleasant. It's conceit is that in 2015 we had World War III (sorry, boys, you missed that one). The only survivors are on the Plateau. And Finn, to escape all the baddies, learned amazing survival skills. Unfortunately, her personality is most unpleasant at first.

She also is thoroughly modern. In later episodes she bores quickly with work, unlike all the Protestant-ethic others. I think her lack of any knowledge but fighting skills (she can't even read) would tell against her later and she'd wind up a dull, two-dimensional character. But as I said, they didn't get that far.

Like Veronica, she seems to make do with very little clothing, but her bust isn't exposed (probably because there's not much to work with) and she runs mostly to leg. I'm not a leg man. I like legs mainly as a means of transportation.

I have mixed feelings about Finn. On the one hand I find her distasteful. But the actress playing her does draw one in.

She certainly fills a void. The show was getting dull as a three-hander. She gives the tired cast, stranded on the Plateau for nearly three years, a lift. And as I speculated above she would probably have been a descendant of Veronica and an avatar warrior. It's just a shame they never got that far.

BTW, this episode is designed to introduce us to Finn and the story is a convenience not worth going into.
