No episode of "The Lost World" deserves a 10 rating but this one fully deserves a top 8.

A stranger who claims to be looking for the lost Challenger Expedition shows up on their doorstep one sunny day. Is he? Yes, but not for the reasons they think. He claims he can lead them off the Plateau. Can he? Well, he got up there, didn't he?

Once again, the stranded castaways refuse to heed Veronica's advice. She's only had that same address all her life. But they're Europeans. They know best. Don't they have the League of Nations and everything?

From the first we thought these castaways need a Gilligan. Someone who, with the best of intentions, manages to sabotage every effort they make toward escape. But we finally realize all the "Europeans" are Gilligans, in their own way. Which for the mostly Colonialized Aussie cast probably has the same resonance as it would for us US Americans, who were also a Colonial people under the thumb of empire.

A Trekkie pal once confided to me Star Trek was fun in a way Star Trek: the Next Generation wasn't. "Next" had to many realistic blinking lights. Star Trek the first was fun in a way fun was when he was a kid saying, "This stick is a gun because I say it is."

In the same way, in this episode these castaways go somewhere by running across the screen one way and ducking behind some rocks. Then, to get out again, they come up from the rocks and run across the screen the other way! Marvelous! That's why we love this program. It's the way people like me, in their late 30s when it started, used to play.

The bad: the new neighbors abuse Veronica a bit, which isn't nice. And she gives up too quick. There's a blazing gun battle between the good guys and the bad but though they're usually all crack shots nobody gets so much as winged.

This is an episode that has everything but Tribune; it's one of my favorites. The villain of the piece is smarmily charming, the castaways act like idiots, Veronica is vindicated. Some people might find this episode and the whole series cheesy; but as Hamlet didn't quite say, Nothing is either cheesy or not but thinking makes it so.

Great fun.

Among Neanderthals, diamonds and Jungle blonde girl!!

In the case of series always has highest ratings as opposite of the pictures, therefore for me both have been rated by the same level, no exception, take a look in the medium rating of this episode 8 out 10, impossible such rating means something nearby of Al Pacino's Scarface with 8.3, such disparities comes to surface when I've post some review over the show often around 6.5, why it's a second class series, flimsy and hugely far-fetched without, let alone the low-level on CGI with those weird dinosaurs and how the crew fooled them so easy.

In this episode appears a famous hunter Avery Burton on the plateaus pursuing a Trog group in order to catch just one hominid to take him to London to expose as freak show, witnessing such iniquity the brave Veronica intervenes to protect the small group of Trogs in jeopardy of the ruthless hunter Avery, seeing the wild Jungle girl the greedy hunter demands for his sidekicks the main target is henceforth the jungle blonde girl, Veronika back at tree's house raise awareness the whole group what she sees previously, soon Avery Burton introduces himself as the man who'll rescue them from plateau to be back to London.

Ned Malone after hear Veronica statement stealthily get close of Avery's campfire trying out certify if Veronica suspicious is right, he hears by yourself Avery's plan and has been caught aftermaths imprisoned in the hole, somehow Marguerite has a slight feeling that already known Avery somewhere, thus she starting a scheme that involve diamonds and set up a plan to deploy a landmine to bury him at a fake cave's diamonds, sadly the plan fails and unwittingly Roxton and challenger are trapped there by set off the landmine, they had few hours until the remaining air available is enough to them escape there.

Perceiving be fooled by Marguerite Avery withdraw all diamonds hidden at tree's house and trapping her at hole sharing Malone the rough lodging at underground, the hope remains at Veronica's hands and Roxton and Challenger trying to set free of blocked cave, once more the expectancy to leave the plateau seems improbable by the self-absorbed Avery that knows a time warp rift where they can be transport to home.

Thanks for reading.
