It's a Horse.....Here's the Keys
Hitchcoc10 March 2015
Colonel Potter picks up the epistolary routine, writing to his wife, Mildred, on their anniversary. Radar is having trouble connecting with the new camp commander, having had this great connection to Henry Blake. Frank and Margaret get wind of the anniversary and decide to give him a present. They find a Korean guy who does sculpture and hire him to make a wooden bust of Potter. When the guy shows them an example of his work he hands them a board, saying, "It used to be round." When Frank says, "That's a two by four," the guy says, "Thank you." Meanwhile, a helicopter pilot points out that a horse has been seen running loose not too far from camp. He wants a rifle to put down the horse, but when Radar gets wind of this, he enlists Hawkeye and B. J. to assist him in aiding the horse. When they get there, they find it has been wounded but not seriously. They load up the horse and take it back to camp after a series of comic efforts to capture it. The final scene is quite touching with Radar finally making the connection he had hoped for.

Sophie's choice

Warning: Spoilers
Dear Mildred displays more of the human side of Colonel Potter, and Radar thinks he doesn't gel with him in the same way he did with the late Colonel Blake.

Anyway, Radar becomes the horse whisperer and rescues a horse (with the help of Hawkeye and BJ) as a wedding anniversary gift for Potter, who is visibly moved by this. At the end we see Sophie and Potter leading the camp to tend to the wounded being brought in on the helicopters.

Also Barbara Christopher, William Christopher's wife in real life, appears as Nurse O'Connor and they sing a duet during the scene when the movie projector breaks down.

Also Patricia Stevens plays Nurse Able in this episode.

One of the best,..

Warning: Spoilers
..episodes of the Series. As we saw in "Change of Command", Potter has a softer, more human side, but unfortunately Radar still hasn't bonded with him. While Potter writes home to Mildred on their Anniversary a stray wounded horse comes to Radars attention, and he enlists Hawkeye & BJ to help. Meanwhile, Frank & hot lips, suck-ups that they are, try to get a bust of the colonel carved by Richard Lee Sung, who steals every scene he's in. The best scene in the episode is when Radar, knowing Potter will find out about the horse, decides to make it an anniversary gift for his boss. And just to keep things from getting too maudlin, Potter slips in some manure...
