When BJ is being arrested and being taken away on charges on "Willful Misconduct" he proclaims, "This whole thing is so stupid," with Hawkeye responding, "that's exactly what Dreyfus said." The basis for this joke refers to the famed "The Dreyfus Affair" in which French Captain Alfred Dreyfus was convicted of treason in 1894 for allegedly communicating French military secrets to the German Embassy in Paris. Eventually, Dreyfus was given a pardon and set free in 1906 after all the accusations against him were demonstrated to be baseless.
On Col. Potter's dress uniform, one of the service ribbons displayed is that of the Purple Heart, given to US soldiers who are wounded or killed in action. When Potter first arrived at the 4077 and was drinking in the Swamp with Hawkeye and BJ, he tells them that he had a 'still' on Guam in World War II and that it blew up, resulting in him being awarded the Purple Heart.
Winchester does not appear in this episode.
