Mary has to cover for Ted and she interviews an author. The pair hit it off very well and he asks her for a date...and she naturally accepts. But only then do they both stand...and she realizes he's a very short man...several inches shorter than her. While their date goes well, Mary soon realizes she's a snob and cannot handle dating anyone that small...which makes her feel quite small about herself.
This is a good episode, not just for its funny moments but because it addresses a seldom talked about prejudice. Well made and the episode won an Emmy.
There is one mistake in the show. Later in the episode, Mary says that in high school she was a cheerleader. However, only a few episodes before she told someone she had never been a cheerleader but a pompom girl. Not a huge difference, but it makes you wonder if the two episodes were written by different folks...otherwise they wouldn't have contracted each other so soon.
