Good episode but not what I wanted to happen

Warning: Spoilers
I could see where the writers were headed a few epsiodes ago. The character I hated the most (Amanda) got away free and and easy by faking her death along with Peter after all the messed up stuff she did especially to Eve. Rena Sofer played the character of Eve very well especially the last few episodes when she went crazy but understandably so to the point I was actually rooting for her to end Amanda or at least get her to go to prison. Megan and Ryan did basically nothing this episode besides the first minute with the car crash. I always liked Peter up until towards the end of the show when he still decided to be with Amanda knowing good and well how bad of a person she really is and I thought after he found out about letting Eve take the fall for that murder 15 years ago he would have a change of heart but nope of course not. He was always stuck to her unfortunately. Lexi really grew on me as the show went on considering I hated her when she first introduced. She simply became a badass and I liked the pairing of her and Michael although she was right that it was never gonna work out for them in the long run. Jane planned on running away when she found out it was Michael's baby but Kyle found out and stopped her which was good because I felt like those two got a fresh start with eachother and Kyle had a feeling that Amanda wasn't really dead because of the locket thing. What wasn't good was that Jane and Kyle agreed not to tell Michael that it was his baby which hurt because now Michael will have two babies that he'll never know (the one with Taylor who I always loved). I'm glad Michael got the chief of staff job back for the final time and can live the good life as a single man. It was also good to know that he knew Peter was still alive because even though they hated eachother sometimes they really were best friends deep down and I really believe they had the best dynamic/relationship throughout the entire show. I'm sad it's ending as it took me a little over a year to finish but it was very fun while it lasted.

Peace out Melrose Place.

Anticilmatic end, to one of the best soap operas.

Warning: Spoilers
This latest series watch, comforted me in the idea, that the finale season always exceeded my expectations midway, only to fizzle out as we approached to the end. Some storylines lack buildups, and others feel forced. I'm still not sure if Michael dreamt his encounter with that sexy nurse. And I hope he did, because it was cringe-worthy and unrealistic. And very reductive to his character. That's one of the things that bothered me the most in this finale episode. The last we see of these characters we grew to love and hate, during nearly a decade, is a stereotypical, borderline cartoonist side of them. That is enhanced by Peter and Amanda's talk about having children, named exactly like her old tenants. And that little pun about Kimberly... I found it was a childish way to end a show, that yet made sure to improve mature themes. With workplace drama and everything young working person, go through. I just hate that last shot of Lexi brushing away, Peter's « ashes » with her hand. Like everything about her, came down to this. They even gave Megan and Ryan the most insignificant exit, of all the season's regulars. Which showed how little they thought of them, as well. The way real life couples ended up together onscreen, lacked genuineness. And have been episodes ago. With Kyle and Jane, suddenly falling madly in love. After exchanging one or two words, this season... And Amanda and Peter, after hesitating almost a year, before doing it again. The last twist, was interesting and unexpected the first time. But their recount of events, did not hold water. And the « Kimberly » Eve pulled on them, was a lazy callback. In fact, everything about Eve, was lazy in this episode. They've been shoving her down our throats, all this time. And she just ends up crazy, paying for a crime Amanda committed, years ago?... Though I'm not sure producers really cared about authenticity, and giving fans the ending they deserved. One long coda, to show where all these characters lives led them, was missing. Unfortunately, the episode has no musical guests either. And after previously gracing us with the likes of Chris Isaak, Tal Bachman and Beth Nielsen Chapman, it simply featured background music. As far as the series is concerned, my seasons ranking remains unchanged, with maybe difficulties spotting my least favorites order. Season 1 was not there yet, and season 5 did not have it anymore. There's also the inclusion of the Summer of 98 episodes, that gives away the ranking of both season 6 and 7. At the end of the day, Melrose Place is a solid series, with a series finale that deserved more (screen)time to flow naturally. And just like any other series, it had issues and plot holes. With characters disappearing into thin air, after swearing they would come back one day, only for viewers to do instead.
