A cool and icky twist on the zombie theme!
Foreverisacastironmess1235 February 2014
I don't get the "Mother" part of the title, is that referring to the fact that Max's mom participates in this particular adventure or the monstrous mother of the parasites that appears? Probably both..who cares! Anywho I love how varied the themes of these episodes were, and this is one of the weirdest.. It's the only zombie episode where the creatures are named as such, and I find it really interesting and different because the zombies featured aren't the classic, shambling corpse variety made famous by popular culture, but a take on something closer to what the undead originally were, which were soulless, somnambulist people enslaved by the power of voodoo - only in this instance it ain't black magic, but rather disgusting, little brain-controlling monster bug parasites which puts a further Invasion of the Body Snatchers type spin on things. The Horror Head playset that this episode is very loosely based on, "Mighty Max Neutralises Zomboid", looked nothing like the parasite monsters that appear in this, although it was parasite themed. I enjoy the first half better when there's no Virgil or Norman, because I like the rare times when Max is in situations where he has to handle things himself, as always getting out alive with a lot of luck and by the skin of his teeth! There's a whole lot of fun bug squishing that goes on, the best one being when Max hi-fives a zombie that's brandishing one of the things! My favourite funny line is when the village witch doctor, terrifically if obviously voiced by Tony Jay, says that the zombies are coming and Max's mom asks how he can tell, and he replies in a hilariously matter of fact bland way that it's "because they are standing right over there." I love that kind of dry wit humour, it's one of the show's greatest assets, and hopefully helps to keep it fun and accessible to any possible newbies today! I always love the impressive shadowing that the series uses, especially in the outlines of the characters. It gives things such a distinct atmosphere and an almost comic book feel at times. And for me the episode's best animation is of the giant, slug-like green glowing mother zomboid, and that of its fiery and explosive death when it's blown up by igniting its own stinky gases.(yuck) The way the ground cracks open and erupts with the fire still looks great. A very nice and novel take on the zombie genre. I heart this!

Max and His Mother
shelbythuylinh3 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As she goes with Max overseas with her job. And in that over in going to lead over to parasites that are like zombies there. Within the zombies that are in human beings. That will be controlled if they touch one of their own or attaches

It is one of the very rare times that Virgil and Norman are not in the episode. As it is just she and Max go to help out Virgil and Norman over in a burial ground.

To stop the zombies, as to finding the female zombie head like. In order to return all to normal.
